Ice Cream Trucks

Today when I went over to water my parent's flowers (they're out of town and it's been very hot here!), I heard the song "The Entertainer" playing. Not sure how many of you remember that song, but it was a popular tune from the 70's. I took a peek out the front by the road, and an ice cream truck went by. woot!

Don't know about you all, but there is something about an ice cream truck that makes me feel nostalgic. I remember waaaaay back, a long time ago, when we lived in our old house (I wasn't even in grade school yet), there was an ice cream truck that used to come down our street. I even remember one time when my cousins were here from out of state, and we all got ice cream from the truck, and sat around in the living room, eating it. In fact, a few weeks back, an ice cream truck came down the street that I currently live on. That kind of surprised me, since the place I live in is an apartment style condo, and it is the first time since I've moved here, in 16 years, that I've seen an ice cream truck come down this way.

For me, ice cream trucks bring back memories of a simplier time in my life, when things were not so hectic and stressful. Guess you could say it brings back memories of childhood summer fun, running through the sprinklers on the front lawn, riding my tricycle up and down the street, and playing with my friends. I kind of miss those days. mushy sigh
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

On second thought, that sounds a bit painful, but I like the idea or your warm tongue licking the ice cream off. biggrin

eek

We'll have to use frozen yogurt. I don't generally eat ice cream. I like just having one chin. Otherwise...

The ice cream truck still comes in my neighborhood. I think it's mandatory for the trucks to play "The Entertainer". giggle Sometimes I still go and flag them down to get some ice cream, if there's none in the house at the time. redface

The ice cream truck in your neighborhood plays "The Entertainer" too? Must be what all of them play. I was thinking that the person who drives the ice cream truck must get damn tired of that song, since it plays over and over again. giggle

hey i ran through a sprinkler today! several times. and i know what you mean about ice cream trucks. those tinkly little tunes faintly growing nearer. remember the ice cream truck smell that used to waft out while we were waiting in line? part chilled air and part cherry syrup with a touch of chocolate.

i know what you mean psycho. i love the sound of the ice cream truck coming down the street. when i was younger there were just a bunch of kids in my neighborhood and we would practically run the truck down to get something. it also makes me think of those nice childhood moments. sad
