Tapeworm eh? I'll look out for it. nod

You're all missing the point though. If I lose too much weight all over I'll be too thin. I only have fat around my mid-section. I can't really afford to lose too much anywhere else. I wish I could detach my stomach for a few days and send it to a spa or something.

Exercises and burning calories is all fine and a step in the right direction, but you really need to combine that with well managed diet thumbs up!

My diet is pretty good. It's convenient and cheap here to eat lots of fruit and veg. so I'm not sure how I've put on this weight. I used to drink a lot of beer, but now I drink it about once every two weeks.

Wow, U look good to me when I checked out your profile!!

I guess the weight around the mid section & love handles are a guy thing. My husband has it now too and he is pretty skinny everywhere else.
He says he needs to start doing crunches again, I guess that is the key.
Good luck but I think you look F-I-N-E !

It's not possible to remove fat in specific spots on your body. You can tone the underlying muscle, but the only way to lose fat is to lose weight in general.

I do that too, but it seems to work one muscle in particular, and doesn't work my mid-section so much.

I guess I'll keep doing crunches.

I'm thinking about buying an exercise bike. I miss cycling. Thing is, you can't do real cycling around here because you need to carry a stick at all times to fend off the dogs, and your chances of riding for more than 10 minutes without being pushed into a ditch by some idiot who bought his driver's license are very slim.

Hmmm... nutty eh? I wouldn't really call it nutty, but of course there are several variations. Right now I have Pai Mu Tan (White Peony). I would just describe white tea as smooth and subtle. I use loose tea and if you get the amount and time just right it's like nectar. It's not grassy like green tea and doesn't pack the punch of oolong (green-blue) or black tea, but it's very smooth and extremely healthy.

White tea: love

Yeah, I don't think it's nutty at all. You're right, the good stuff is like nectar. . . or maybe. . . imagine drinking the dew off of flower petals. That's what white tea is like.

Here's some info I found:

When preparing green tea and white teas, always use filtered cold water and bring it to a rolling boil. Next, allow the water to cool to a temperature somewhere between 165-185 degrees before you pour it over the tea leaves. (Boiling water usually takes between 30 and 60 seconds to cool to this temperature.) Never use boiling water to prepare your white or green tea. Water at this temperature will "cook" the leaves and destroy the tea and its flavor, creating a bitter tasting tea. Approximately 160 degrees is perfect for green teas and white teas taste best at approximately 185 degrees.

The amount of tea you will need per pot or cup is less than you might expect. Use approximately 2 grams of tea per cup to make a perfect tasting tea (1 teaspoon for a 6 to 8 oz. cup). You can use leaves for more than one infusion, and this is a common practice throughout the world. Full-leaf teas always produce more than one cup per teaspoon when made correctly.

Green Tea: Steep the tea for 1 to 2 minutes only.

White tea: Steep from 4 to 15 minutes, with the leaves immersed. Now taste. With tea, smell is next to taste in importance. If the taste of the tea isn't to your liking, then adjust the steeping time. Steeping is entirely based on individual preference.

I don't make individual cups. I tend to put quite a bit in a pot and don't steep it nearly as long as this, sometimes only seconds, not minutes. You are supposed to pour water over the leaves (just enough to cover) one time first for around 30 seconds and pour it away before you pour the hot water and steep the tea for real.

I can't imagine steeping it for 15 minutes. eek

Just play around with it a little though. I think 5 teaspoons for a normal tea pot steeped for 3 or 4 minutes would be fine.

Apparently it's not enough though. I need to lose weight in general to lose it from this one place. I don't see it though. I'm not overweight and it wouldn't benefit me to burn fat anywhere else. I don't have hardly any fat anywhere apart from this little gut and slight love handles.

have you called the institute of higher colonics? smile

The following was reported in January 11, 1999 issue of USA Today:

"Most people who eat the standard American 'goo and glue' diet have about 5-10 pounds of matter stored in the colon. It's said that, according to the autopsy, John Wayne had 40 pounds of impacted fecal matter in his body at death. Elvis reportedly had 60 pounds."
