~ GUT! ~

I seem to have developed a bit of a gut. I think I got it from drinking too much tea. shrug

What's the best way to get rid of it?

I do, but unfortunately at the moment I'm only mainly doing weights. I've just noticed a little extra fat around the mid section of late and I'm wondering what the best exercise for that would be. I've started doing crunches, but I was wondering what else might help.

Exercises and burning calories is all fine and a step in the right direction, but you really need to combine that with well managed diet thumbs up!

I do that too, but it seems to work one muscle in particular, and doesn't work my mid-section so much.

I guess I'll keep doing crunches.

I'm thinking about buying an exercise bike. I miss cycling. Thing is, you can't do real cycling around here because you need to carry a stick at all times to fend off the dogs, and your chances of riding for more than 10 minutes without being pushed into a ditch by some idiot who bought his driver's license are very slim.

My diet is pretty good. It's convenient and cheap here to eat lots of fruit and veg. so I'm not sure how I've put on this weight. I used to drink a lot of beer, but now I drink it about once every two weeks.

Me too! smile That and pull-ups because I'm pretty light. We actually had a sit-up competition one day and I battled to the end with a friend of mine. We just kept going, trying to beat each other. The next day I couldn't get out of bed. lol I had a 7.5% body fat percentage then. I'd guess now I'm around 9%.

I don't need to lose weight in general. I'm 6 ft 3 and I only weight around 75 or 76 Kgs. I just need to shuft a little fat around my stomach. You bodybuild, so what would you do?

Excercise more, eat less calories. It's basically as simple as that. Must be all those damn noodles you've been eating. wink

I guess that's what I'll do. It's annoying because all I drink most days is tea and water, and all I usually eat is rice-based meals, noodles, soup and lots of veggies. I drank a lot of beer a couple of nights ago, but that was the first time in weeks. I've been working out a lot on my arms for the last 2 months and I'm seeing the benefits now, but all of a sudden I've got love handles and bit of a belly. I must've not noticed it as it can't have happened overnight!

Hey, could I bend your ear about a few simple bodybuilding things in orgnote? Just briefly. smile

You can't spot fix problem areas. You will need to lose the fat before Crunches will do anything for you. You can even make your gut look more pronounced with crunches by pushing the fat out.

Makes sense. So a bit more general exercise to lose weight in general, not that I'm carrying weight anywhere else.

Not really. The crunches will continue to develope your abs, even if they're hidden by the subcutaneuous fat (or pushed out by the visceral form), so just keep at then wink

When you eventually burn off all that lard, your missus* will be able to scrub her laundry on it! smile

* Not that that is what a "missus" is for confused
