I need help connecting wirelessly


I have a laptop with windows xp, a netgear 802.11b wireless card and a Linksys wireless B...I also have a desktop connected to a cable modem...How do I set my laptop up for internet access? When I enter the linksys setup cd it doesn't detect a modem. Thanks

The front cover of the box says wireless broadband router and I can use it with dsl or cable.
I just want to get online on my laptop.

I think someone in my building has a router because on the bottom taskbar sometimes it shows "Linksys Very Good", I'm not trying to use the persons router, but Internet Explorer says cannot find server.
