Where does the Americans not having sex message board come from? America is very aware it is. There is no denial spin over here. Interesting how countries are conveyed to others.

We get a lot of press here of American law cracking down on what they call Sodom n Gomorra, meaning Amsterdam. It is like it always is; they report on the things that stand out. I am afriad I base part of my judgement on that reporting, true.

Meeting you shocked me! LoL

That would be the drugs... They did rip through my suitcases searching for coffee shop products! rolleyes

I am from Cali so we are more open..... The midwest is likely more quiet about it all. It's just interesting to see the preceptions or misconceptions.

The Americans do it too.... All they ever ask is if I smoked over there... rolleyes That and the girls in the windows... I tell them they need to travel a bit and broaden their terms of reality... I suppose I never have bought the spins on other Nations.

In my experience people are the same all over the world all and all.

Not my experience. There are so many cultural differences in Europe alone. Dutch women are completely different from Italian women for example.

I think there are certainly differences, but I think there's more in common.

generally speaking, Americans probably are more.. "sexually active".
(REDBABY I'm not sure what you mean when you say "sexually promiscuous" - do you define that as "more willing to be with different partners on shorter notice"??)

here is why I think so:
America is definitely a "capitalist" country, which of course implies "competition".. & a lot of Americans are VERY COMPETITIVE in many ways..
including sex..
I think back when I was in junior high school..
(I can't believe I'm going to actually admit this, but I will because I think it's a decent example")..
we actually had a contest.. on the last day of school every year (in June).. to see which of us could grab or pinch the largest number of breasts..

I KNOW, I KNOW..
VERY stupid & childish - NOT TO MENTION RUDE & TOTALLY DISRESPECTFUL..
but..
that's 1 thing we did then,
that's how some 11- or 12- or 13-year old boys thought at that time..

then, in my early 20s, some of us would go out & see who could get the most numbers or who would actually go home with someone they'd just met..

so that's the "competition factor" about how Americans can "score" more..

then, think about the "social environments" in which Americans often find themselves - many people go to bars, which have happy hours, which of course "encourage" people to drink more, then of course, the more a person drinks alcohol, the more likely their inhibitions will go down- & their pants too.

there is also the "instant gratification" factor, wherein a lot of people people WANT WHAT THEY WANT - RIGHT NOW DAMMIT - & TO HELL WITH ANYONE WHO WOULD DARE TELL THEM SOMETHING LIKE "it would be wrong for you to do that" or "well, maybe you should not do that" or "why don't you wait a while before you do that"..
so, rather than taking the time to actually get to know a person for the person they are, just make up something about yourself (or lie outright) &/or pretend to be interested in the other person &/or tell them what you think they want to hear, whatever you need to say to improve your chances to get 'em in the sack..

plus, because of "women's liberation - late model version", there are quite a few women who are "agressive", who will make the 1st move towards a man if she likes him &/or is attracted to him. from what I've seen & heard & know about, it does not seem to happen too often that I man will refuse sex if he's even minimally attracted to the woman who is offering it..
a lot of men will have sex.. simply because there is an opportunity for it!

from what I've seen in Europe - mostly France, & more recently more in Italia - things do generally progress at a "slower" pace..
it does seem to be more about the "art of flirtation", the "art of seduction" & not just
"wham bam thank you ma'am"
when I lived in France, 1 of the 1st things I noticed when I went out socially was how no women ever came up to me, never spoke to me or initiated any type of conversation in most social environments..
I came to learn that in France, "woman approaching men" really just is not done. basically (as I understand it) a woman who approaches a man & has some type of "personal" or "romantic" interest in him.. she is probably a prostitute of some type..
so generally in Europe, it's on the man to make the 1st move, to demonstrate his interest in a woman..

then in terms of the social settings, Europeans do go out a lot, but typically they go out in groups - especially singles - because it does remove most of the "pressure" of being on a 1-on-1 date. unless it's a special occasion, Europeans don't normally drink excessively when they go out - 1, it's not really in their culture & 2, a lot of places don't have 'happy hours' & some of those that do.. hm.. they aren't that "happy" to me in terms of what you pay for, for the drinks..

damn. I just scrolled up & saw
HOW MUCH
I've written in this thread; I did not plan to write that much..

well, before I make this a "full blown lecture"..
I would say that based on my experiences & on what I've seen & heard about..
Americans very likely do "get it on" more than Europeans.
in fact, I remember a few years ago the New York Post (don't laugh!) did an article on this, based on some study that came out at that time, from some university I think..
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..
