Being that there is a threshhold of pleasure and pain that most humans experience, I wonder if there are alien species who experience a wider array of that.

More pleasure and more pain. It seems that such creatures would be consumed by passions and unable to morally develope becuase they'd be so violent and such. BUt I bet the sex would be fucking hawt.

That's interesting. I've never thought of that. How about the opposite, where a race has a very narrow scope of sensory feeling, where sex feels only slightly different to stubbing your toe. hmmm That'd suck. confused

Well, it might.
Or it might make them more aware of processes which drive such sensations as they would be more subtle. They may even be free of such mental poisons whe experience and more able to see the interdependent nature of all non-things.

They would be enlightened.

But the sex!!!!

Thing is, it's fallacious this concept, due to what you're alluding to above. A narrower scope of feelings and sensation would lead to greater subtlety and understanding, which in turn effectively widens that scope. Nothing would really change. Just like I have no idea how much a stubbed toe hurts for you. We can't quantify our pain and compare results, but we can agree that there's a spectrum of pleasure and pain and compare where we'd roughly see certain sensations on that spectrum. With a narrower sensory scope and no experience of our intense pain, mild pain or whatever would take its place. It would be intense pain to a being with that narrower sensory scope.

Don't worry, we'll keep it generalised enough.

So have you shaved your balls yet or still discussing it?

It doesn't work for you. Market yourself as smooth and sensitive. nod

You're not Chris. You don't have his naturally tough and memorable qualities. What you do have though is accessibility.

Anyways, back on topic.

If we discovered definitive proof that life DID exist on other planets, would that have an impact on today's major religions?

Very interesting, especially if they don't look like us.

I think some would:
1. Accept them as part of God's great and varied creation.

2. Try to case them as inferior because man is made in God's image.

3. Demonized them for not being mention in the Bible, koran, etc.

If the discovery will strenghten or weaken organized religions, depends on the individual members. I think most will survive, but will be changed forever.

Don't be silly!

The bible says NOTHING about life on other planets, so there can't possibly be such a thing as extraterrestrial beings!!! :SarcasticSmileWhileWearingDarthVaderCap:
