What the BLEEP do we know?

Has anyone seen this? I saw it last night and can't get it out of my head.

For those that may not know, it's a movie about well almost everything. They discuss Quantum Physics a lot and how we are constantly interacting with things we have no knowledge of. They intertwine a story of a deaf woman and her life with the discussion of those interviewed for the movie. The movie is semi-documentory style.

The thing is, I think like this sometimes....the what is life, why are we here...or are we really here...type of thing. To me the movie was very cerebral..much like that of the study of Quantum Physics (the movie does a great job in explaining what QP is).

I think my favorite parts of the movie was the part where the guy photographs a molocule (or is some molecular structure) of water and then takes the same water and has it blessed and then takes a picture again. He also places the water in glasses and tapes words to the glasses and then photographs the water after 24 hours. The results were stunning. The glasss that had positive words on them were almost like snowflakes...very pretty. The ones that had mean words on them look all yellow and convoluted. And the concept was if thoughts or words can affext water in a glass like that...imaging what it would do to us...as we are 90% water.

There was another part in the movie where they talk about brain synapses and connections and how if a certain condition exists and is repeated over and over again that the brain manipulates it self and creates these connections and associations. ANd that only if reconditioned will those connections break and new connections will be made. Example: addictions and breaking them.

It's funny becasue there is a definite "Matrix-y" feel to some of it. Like our brain processes 2 billion bits of information a second yet we only perceive 2000 of them. What else is going on that we aren't "seeing". It doesn't realy matter, I don't think as we can only control what we perceive our reality is.

I know...pretty deep.

I've been wanting to rent this. I was originally going to see it at the theaters but it came and went. Marlee Matlin is in it, right?

She's a deaf actress. Famous for a movie called Children Of A Lesser God. I think I spelled her name correctly.

I think everyone should see this movie...though not all will like it. But definitely delves into ...we make our own destiny and future...even though it is partly random. It also goes into that there are many existances at once. Like there is a 5min ago "you" that is defined by the past. The 5 min from now you is a little bit more random, because you have not made the decision of where you will be just yet nor does it take into account other people...but lets say you'd definitely be 5min away from where you are now...however based on facts and you will...most likely you'll be in front of your computer typing out a response to this post.

i tried to watch it a couple of months ago, but i fell asleep and my sweetie wasn't into it, and i wasn't into it enough to try watching it again unless i had someone to watch it with who was up for it, so i sent the sucker back to netflix. i'll probably give it another spin someday - i thought some of the things the movie said were really interesting...i think the presentation with half dramatization/half documentary kinda turned me off. felt like i was watching a school filmstrip or somethin'. lol

I saw it soon after it came out last summer and was really disappointed because it's all nonsense. I was actually surprised that those scientists are, well, scientists. I thought that only new age yoga fanatics believed in that kind of crap. Quantum Mechanics is so strange and so few people understand it(well no one really does) that it's easy to make people believe a certain thing about it if it pushes a certain agenda. To me that agenda is giving religion a scientific basis.

I was expecting more of a movie too. I almost gave it the turn off after 40 minutes into it...but it kept holding my interest. Though towards the end...I became less and less interested in it.

ust the talk about the nucleus of an atom and it's break down was fascinating. Apparently the particles that make up an atom as well as the nucleus pop into and out of existance. WHere they go is indeed a good question. That sort of freaked me out.

Now I really want to see it. The nucleus thing is probably like a mini BIG BANG.
Fascinating.

It was suggested that the nucleus pops into other existances..perhaps it pops into the next variable possibilities of where it might go.

Interesting concept, that string theory. It was the subject of a NOVA episode I saw last year.

Maybe we're really not typing on this site.

The concept is not for everyone, as it is almost too ridiculous to be true.

I can't believe none of u disagree with the presentation of the science. A lot of the professors in the physics department here were really upset with this film. One of my physics professors wrote an essay about all the BS he believed to be in the film and it got published in some local newspaper. I haven't seen it in a while so I've forgotten all the things I personally didn't like about it. Is anyone else here really science knowledgeable and wants to slap down on "What the Bleep?"

I wanted to see this when it 1st. came out but it didn't show around here. I was hoping that it would be about the empty spaces which exist in not just physics, but all sciences(theories & formulas).
It's been alluded that in those spaces are the potentiality that are decided by will(I ain't meaning spiritual).
Based by the reviews I read, I thought that maybe this film was touching on this.

I nearly fell asleep but I do remember there being a bit on will power and shaping one's reality. Making science a spiritual thing.

I'm digging what you are saying.
Because I haven't seen it yet...I have to hold my opinion.

But some of the things discussed on this thread---certainly don't sound like science (more like science fiction).

I'm having a dilemma. I rented the movie and watched it. I really really really enjoyed the movie. The dilemma is the same as when I watched Fahrenheit 911. Everybody is telling me that a lot of what is presented as fact isn't. A lot of WHAT THE BLEEP kind of made sense to me. The whole addiction to feelings and stuff like that. It explained a lot of things to me. Am I an idiot? I'm a gullible? I don't know. This movie made an impression on me and it gave me lots to think about.

For people that don't "get" the movie when they see it, it's worth it just to watch the whole POLISH WEDDING I.V. DANCE SCENE.lol

Someone recommended this to me when I lost my job in November. I didn't catch it in theatres, and pretty much forgot about it. Finally watched it a few weeks ago. I was also thrown off by the unconventional storytelling devices. I was expecting a straightforward, narrative movie. It did take me 2 sitting to get through it, but at the end of it all... I LOVE IT!!!

The combination of science and spirituality, and determining your own reality is very Kabbalah.
let me come over it's a beautiful day to play with you in the dark

bingo. It's been so long since I've seen it that I forgot the religious bias in this movie. It's financed, I believe by the RSE, Ramtha School of Enlightenment. What the Bleep is the RSE as Battlefield Earth(I've heard) is to scientology.

i don't know about the financing, but Ramtha was channeled to speak in the movie. and comparing WTBDWK, a tiny non-narrative indie film with no box office stars to "Battlefield" is a big stretch. Big.

Well WTBDWK isn't non-narrative. And I haven't seen Battlefield and don't know anything about it or scientology, but I've heard that it's very important to that religion. WTBDWK seems more a way of getting this tiny religion's message out to the public.

Okay, it's 1/3 narrative, 1/3 animated, 1/3 documentary.

I haven't seen BE, and I don't know anything about Scientology except they make John Travolta and Tom Cruise suppress their homosexuality. The point I'm making about the difference between the 2 films is that WTB had, I believe, a $5 million budget, no box office stars, and very little marketing for its theatrical release. BE, on the other hand, had a multi-million dollar budget -- I believe well over $100 million, box office stars, and major marketing.

Yes, the goal of WTB's producers was to get a message out. I agree with you on that. It wasn't however, one single message, and many of the participants didn't share the same views. Even the 3 directors came in with different agendas.
