It is for many people. And it helps you to get known I think. The more sophisticated ones (like me cool ) stay undercover for a long time. lol

Yeah, and I'm not nearly as bitchy as I appear to be.

I've never noticed that you're overly bitchy. hmmm

Cloudbuster - The man of the many poopsandwiches and childish/funny/cute duels with Christopher or who else happens to get in his way. Have you ever read a serious sentence - or any sentence for that matter - that Cloudbuster has written? smile

Actually, the wittiness involved in Cloudbuster/Christopher duels is generated by an immense computer. You might think they are real, but they are just computer programs.

That said; I have seen many serious posts by Cloudbuster. Then again, I have seen his undies too.

I'm more aloof here..distant. Not so in real life, body language and gestures and facial expressions are an important part of communicating. When you can see the twinkle in the eye and curl of the mouth when somebody makes a comment, that makes a difference (imo)

I was hoping that there is that twinkle and curl going on during your feuds with 9sey, but maybe you're dead serious then. confused smile

If not, it shines through even here on the Org. Even without the use of emoticons.

I really know what you mean though. I've heard so many stories about people that get along just fine on the internet but then when they meet in real life all these other important factors come into play and change things completely. An online community is nice, but you can only take it so far. And my initial question was basically a serious one; how much of us is filtered away by the layers of the internet, the context of the org and the medium of a web-based forum? I think the answer is: a lot.

biggrin I'm like that too. I rarely act very sweet with anyone on here, and can be very aloof, but I think I'm completely different in real life. Mostly it's just because I'm too damn lazy to post anything more serious than emoticons, pics of Jimmy Page, and talk about music on here. lol

But then anyone who really knows me also knows that I pretty much talk about Jimmy Page non-stop anyway. doh! boxed

I also think people can become caricatures of themselves here. An exaggerated self that in real life is different.
