Not static art, but amazing nonetheless.

A montage from works of the Brothers Quay...

http://www.believemedia.com/flash.html

1. Select directors at the bottom of the page
2. Select the quay brothers from the left list
3. Select montage from the right list

...amazing stop-motion animators
(the juxtaposition of the background music vs the images is amusing)

Some may find the imagery disturbing, but if you dig it, look into...

...Brothers Quay Collection - The Astonishing Short Films 1984-1993.

Unfortunately I can't make it work on my computer, but I'm somewhat familiar with the Quay brothers' work. Did you see their feature film Institute Benjamenta? That was quite amazing.

It's very crude but that's what I like about it... and I find the words coupled with the pictures to be disturbing yet challenging. I like to scroll through them for inspiration before I start writing...

The style in which the pictures are painted and the words are totally at odds with each other. The pictures have a childlike innocence but the titles have very adult themes.
