British couple's 80-year marriage world's longest some of you fools could learn a thing or two from these two biddys:
London: A British couple found by the publishers of Guinness World Records to hold the record for the longest marriage ever celebrated their 80th anniversary yesterday. Asked for their secret, Florence Arrowsmith, who married her husband Percy on June 1, 1925, said you must never be afraid to say "sorry". "You must never go to sleep bad friends," she said. Percy, 105, said his secret to a happy marriage came down to two words: "Yes, dear." Guinness World Records said the couple also held the record for the oldest married couple's aggregate age. "I think we're very blessed," Florence, 100, told the BBC. "We still love one another. That's the most important part." The couple, who have lived in the same house in Hereford since 1925, have three children, six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, and are planning a party soon. "I like sherry at lunchtime and whisky at night ," said Florence. The previous record for the longest marriage was 78 years, held by a couple in Japan. ---- Reuturs | |
