Don't hate the playa....Hate the game... Overused yes....but do you truely understand what that means? It's not just a cliche...it is a very common thing people do...They hate the on the playa...When I say "playa" or "player" they both are the same...is essentially people have a problem with something someone else is doing because they deem it shallow or wrong or without true merit. So instead of doing what it takes to be in that person's position they choose to sit back and critique and pout...
Another saying that I like also is "Pay the cost to be the boss" for example....When "some" women see all the skinny women on the magazine covers and begin talking trash about how they look and blah blah blah.....Why hate on the woman posing? They got there doing what they had to do...you could have done the same, but for reasons of your own you choose not too...So why hate on them? Hate on the society and the powers that be that makes the rules....yet people choose to hate the playa...(person doin what they do) instead of placing the blame and hard feelings toward the true problem.... I just think that the phrase has lost it's way since it got popular....no one seems to really understand it anymore... *also when I say "Hate" I don't mean actual hate...I mean critical comments and behavior* clever clever quotation - attention getting quote - sad yet witty remark - look at me! Im deep quote- song lyric about my ex cause that bitch stole my mp3 player! - line from movie I liked - Prince lyric - not very clever sig mocking other sigs

I always took it as a way for people to avoid personal responsibility when they are acting the fool. Like saying, "Don't blame me for my actions, I am just caught up in a system I am incapable of overcoming.

That's what I always thought too. It always seemed to me a way of renouncing personal responsibility, not a "hate the behavior, not the person" kinda thing. Anytime I heard it I thought, BS! you know better and you're the one behaving like an ass. |

As Prince said: "It's more hard to love than it is to hate." Now you're quoting Prince? Are you feeling ok?
