It's not about WHAT you say...

It's about WHO's saying it.

Strikes me that some of us have already decided who we like and who we don't. From then on it's irrelevant what's posted. We'll flame one person for saying something we'd laugh at were it someone else.

As such... neutral

What can we do about that?

'It's not about WHAT you say...'

it IS about what you say

more so it's about what you dont say and the thoughts you have ...

and more so then that

it's about the intentions you hold

In the beginning certainly. We're pretty quick to make decisions about people though. These opinions we form of people are then much harder to change than they were to form based on our early impressions. Hence we'll react differently to the same comment depending on who posts it. Intentions and thoughts are often very difficult to determine when reading someone's typed words. What I'm referring to is simply a superficial thing. We may never know the true thoughts and intentions of someone posting online, but we still confidently make decisions about whether we like or dislike an orger. These early decisions about people then influence us massively when reacting to later interactions, perhaps more than they should do.

doh! indeed.

I thought most people knew it was me.

It just struck me that I should've used a completely new ID for this thread, but I don't have one and I'm just using this because Fauxie's out of posts. That might've proved my point better. Not to worry...

im gonna agree with this.....

i noticed i posted a thread one day and it got relatively light traffic..

another orger (who i am gonna call an attention whore) posted an indentically themed thread (but directed towards another attention whore) and the thread got tons of responces..

what does it all mean?

attention whores will always rule the gd...

try posting in other areas of the site music: non-prince and p&r are probably the most world cliqued of the bunch...

"Shiver Me Timbers / Samedi Et Vendredi"

Well, I'm leavin' my family, leavin' all my friends.
My body's at home, but my heart's in the wind
where the clouds are like headlines upon a new front page sky.
My tears are salt water. The moon's full and high.

And I know Martin Eden is gonna be proud of me.
Many before me been called by the sea
to be up in the crows nest singin' by saying:
Shiver me timbers. Sailing away.

And the fog's lifting, the sand's shifting, I'm drifting on out.
Old Captain Ahab's got nothin' on me.
Swallow me, don't follow me. I travel alone.
The water's my daughter. I shall skip like a stone.

And the fog's lifting, the sand's shifting, I'm drifting on out.
Old Captain Ahab longs to hear me shout,
"Swallow me, don't follow me. I travel alone.
The water, she's my daughter. I'll skip like a stone."

Won't you please call my old man. Tell him not to cry.
My goodbyes are written by the moon in the sky.
Say, nobody knows me. Can't fathom my staying.
Shiver me timbers. I'm sailing away.

sigh i love that song wink
