Ugh! Mechanics!!!!

I've decided to fix the bike, so I could have some transportation, and also, that I could sell it once I move.
So I try to look for bike shops that will fix the bike, and all of them tell me "No, we don't deal with those bikes, you'll have to go to the main shop for that. they're the only ones who will fix it for you."
Of course, that shop is known to be very expensive. But I had no choice, so I go there.
I tell them "listen, my rear break doesn't work. seems to be stuck. I want it fixed, please. And can you give me an estimate?"
"Sure,"they say "A new rear break costs about $20, and assmbling it will cost another $20."
"Great! I'll come by tomorrow to pick it up!".
They call me to tell me my bike is fixed. I go to the shop, I check the break, it works. The give me a bill for $70. eek
"What's up with the greed, fellas?" I ask.
"Well, the break was really stuck, and it took a lot of work to make it work again"
So basically, I paid more, and they didn't even replace the break rolleyes "Fine! Just give me the bike, I'll pay the extra. At least my bike works now."
I go home, and I see a crack in a cover that is near the rear break. it looks like it got broken and glued back together. So I go back the next day to the shop, and ask the head mechanic "There seems to be something broken there, which was not before."
"Oh yeah" he says "It got broken while we tried to fix the break. If I had another part like this I'd replace it, but I don't, and it'll take weeks to get one. But don't worry, it's just cosmetics." confuse
I go to the owner of the shop and show him the problem, he asks his main mechanic what happened, and the guy tells him "The break was really stuck, and it got broken when we tried to fix it. There was no way of fixing it without breaking that part."
So they go and check if there's a part available anywhere near, and they find one, and tell me it costs $80. "Fine, I don't care how much it costs, you broke it, you pay for it!"
"No, we're not going to pay for it, because we had to break it to free the breaks" they say "But we will not charge you for previous work we've done, we'll take that from the part's cost. so you'll just have to add $10 for it plus work time.

Now since I want my bike to be fixed, and they're the only ones who will do it, I have no choice to give up and pay. But this part that was broken, didn't even touch the break, and the only way to break it is if they miss a hit with the hammer and accidentally hit that part and break it.
Tomorrow the part will arrive, and I'm going to have another talk with the owners. I want him to show me step by step how it got broken, and in what way did it contribute to the fixing of the break. It's really small money, though it's still money, and those bastards are trying to get away with bad work.
pissed

The have about 20+ expensive bikes in one row. I think I might slip and fall, which will cause the bikes to collapse like dominos and blame them for a slippery floor. nod
