“ ‘Which sub is that?’ said Winston, automatically feeling for money.”

From George Orwell’s 1984 (always on my desk)

Required Voluntary efforts….sounds like a Bu$hism.

The sentence following:

“About a quarter of one’s salary had to be earmarked for voluntary subscriptions, which were so numerous that it was difficult to keep track of them.”

I’m trying to read two books currently.

From the book I’m trying to wrap my brain around: THE MORAL ANIMAL

“A male may settle down long enough to monopolize one, two, or even more of these ranges, through vast monopolies are discouraged by the attendant need to fend off vast numbers of rivals.”

It’s discussing how the (drifting) male orangutan spreads his seed.

What it means to me: Don’t take on more than you can handle. (Which in my case means only one biggrin )

From the book I’ve started for enjoyment: ANIMAL FARM

“”Why, then, asked somebody, had he spoken so strongly against it?”

What it means to me: I don’t have a clue---I’m only on page 20!

It's from a book of short stories by Roald Dahl.

errmmm...I'm not in the habit of chopping down trees, so it doesn't apply.

Is that the story about the guy who builds this device that can hear trees scream?

lol... ok i found one on my fourth try biggrin

"he had sketched them in his notebooks and amassed a large personal collection of private parts."

from the nf book the mummy congress that i bought before seeing an exhibition of mummies and bog men a couple of summers ago

and i guess it would pertain to me in so far as my fascination with the (ahem) male member - although i do not have a personal collection giggle
