Rangers win Scottish Premier League.

Celtic chucked it away.

I couldnt care less who won it though.
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

hrmph....yes congrats to rangers....they hung in there and celtic have been far from convincing this season....but if we are being realistic here....rangers are an average team and celtic were a good team but have been going backwards for the last year or two due to no real investment in the team.
...
...rangers have a terrible record in europe and celtic were knocked out early this year as well and this is where the two glasgow giants are really judged...not in the two team league that is the scottish league.

Not sure what you guys think, but I honestly think that Scottish Football going to Setanta has been the final nail in an already shut coffin.

I was a celtic season ticket holder until a couple of years ago, and at that time, could never envisage a time I wouldn't care about results / league position etc. But since it moved to Setanta, I've not seen a live league game, and can't bring myself to watch the highlights show on STV coz it's totally shit. So now,if I hear the results from the weekend, it's usually by chance rather than design.

All said, congrats to Rangers (really). Agree Celtic are probably still the better team, and gave it away to an extent ... but at the end of the season, they count up points, and Rangers had more. Well done to them for keeping the heat on even after it seemed like a lost cause (more than once).

And go on you two ... have a fight, will make the weekend MUCH more interesting.

PS Boab ... loving Renfrew. Smashing little town ... and great wee estate we're in (Kirklands - new white houses along past Babcocks, where they're still building).

When Motherwell scored I wasn't as dejected as I thought I should be. I was more perplexed. It kind of dawned on me the same thing that Levi had said, it all means so little now.

It's painfully bad and all so insular. It's all about 2 teams- and I mean all about (Muirdo is the perfect example of the Scottish football fan who claims to hate the old firm and not care about them, but yet can't stop talking about them wink ). It's like watching two paraplegics in a race to the finish.

It's now season ticket renewal time for me, and well I'd be lying if I said I was not going to renew - I've had it since I was 6, 16 yrs in all - but I cant think of one reason why I should. I don't really enjoy it, and It's not exactly cheap.

Maybe if Martin O'Neill leaves, it might shake the club up and make things more interesting. Even then, it will only be for a season or two.

well there seems to be hardly any Rangers fans in here or else one of them would have posted that they had won the league.
If Celtic had won i was quite sure someone would have started a thread.

I cant win either way i work with lots of Celtic supporters who think im a closet hun, i also know Rangers supporters who think im a closet tim.

neutral

I went up to Dundee for a night out once and i got asked "who's your team?"
I said kilmarnock , they said "ah but who's your other team?"

honestly you cant win..

are u going to the night out?

the old firm must get out of scottish football soon....they are trapped in a league which is not competitive enough for them and then when they go into europe where they really should do well considering they are one of the 20 richest clubs in europe, ....they struggle badly (celtic run to the uefa cup final being the exception of course)
...

MON leaving would be a disaster from which celtic wouldn't recover for quite some time.

True, there's a stale feeling to them now, but that's entirely because of the lack of funds coming in to freshen up the squad. MON is an incredible motivator, and decent tactician ... think of all the total diddies he's turned into decent, even superb players.

Rangers will go on to dominate for a few years if he goes.

Cant agree mate. I think that O'neills mind has been on other things for the last year (quite rightly) and he has been operating well below par.

Now I DON'T want Strachan, but I feel someone else might shake things up

Well, as Derek Johnston often says ... 'Football's all about opinions' smile

Though clearly, football's nothing about opinions, it's about scoring more goals than .... oh never mind.

i totally agree with you.
it would be better for all the teams involved.
Celtic and Rangers could go down to England and have to motivate themselves for more than 4 or 5 times a season.
Now some people say that it would be the death for Scottish football but i think with the old firm removed and to turn it into a 16 team league it could work.
Without the old firm it usually is a tight league and if your team had a chance of winning the title,im quite sure they would get a lot of support that wasnt available before.
They could even probably attract a better class of player to clubs if European football came into it.

celtic were a decent outfit the year they reached the uefa cup final(they won nothing that year amazingly enough) but this is when the board should have found the money to invest in the team, not now when its too f**king late....all celtic top players are getting on a bit...sutton(injury prone) thomson, lennon, hartson so this team now needs to be rebuilt around petrov and mcgeady.
...
...i would prefer if o'neil could take a year out but this doesnt look very likely.....i think there is to be a news conference this afternoon so it looks like he is off... sad

Agree it would be better for the old firm ... disagree about it working for the rest. Other teams rely on getting Celtic and Rangers fans to fill up their ground a couple of times per seaosn. Plus, no TV company in their right minds would punt money into the game here if the big two weren't involved.

BUT ... this argument's been going round for years now, and it's just as unlikely now as it was back when it was first proposed.

bring back Barnes!

And have jim Jeffries as his assistant, the most delusional manager in the universe ( we were the better team, let in six sloppy goals)

just saw the thread , firstly i am regarded as something of a big celtic fan ! or should that be fanny ! lol. i agree with some of the things boab has said. i also agree with sermi,... i was not that surprised !! the footballs been awful this year !!

my positive is this,... gers and celts are average/good sides not great by any standards , gers won title so they will now hold onto mcleish who they were desperate to get rid of ! and novo has scored 2 league goals in 3 months !!! so they gotta keep him and quite a few of the others as they are the champions , celts are a good side who all aged together into an old team ! we seem to have found the money to rebuilt and david murray has already stated that gers will only sign bosmans so,.... fuck it roll on next year ya bas ,.....

oh n' muirdo you better bring lots of pals to hide behind on saturday night cos i love nothing better than beating up huns disguised as killie fans lol wink
