OKAY GUYZ I NEED YOUR OPINION!! I am writing an essay on the conventions of musical film.
What i would like to know is based rawly on YOUR perspective. IF a film featurez a prominent musical soundtrack dat takez you on journey wif da character(s) ...but these characterz do not sing these musical numberz, would you still consider that film a musical? 
Can you think of any particular film that has been classified as a MUSICAL- but you dissagree?

West side story broke loadsa rules choreography wise. But they do break out into song so my comment doesn't really help u. | |

Beavis & Butthead Do America - I haven't seen this in AGES but I don't recall it being a musical. Dancer in the Dark, Sister Act, The Pianist, Purple Rain. Mind you, these are examples shamelessly taken from wikipedia! I mean, like, where is the sun? | |

I'm curious as these films are LISTED AS musical films, but their functionality as a real musical film (in my mind at least!) seemz questionablez!! Opinionz opinionz... Thankyaz. No hablo espanol,no!
