Don't you hate it when you get your hair colored...

...and the first time you wash it, you can see the color coming off in your shampoo soap suds!

You shouldnt wash it straight away. As a rule, my hairdresser tells me to rinse it first, then wash with shampoo after.

This always happens to me, generally for about the first week after a color. Of course, reds fade very quickly. And Red is right, the first time you style after a color you should rinse, not wash. In fact, I generally only wash my hair every other day. Also use as cool of water as you can stand. If it's super hot and steamy it opens the pores in your hair and can contribute to losing the color more quickly.

This is more of a red hair color problem than any other color. I was red for years and years until this past November. It would always fade the first 2 or 3 washes. And I waited usually 2 or 3 days before the first wash. Also, as I getting older gray hair doesn't hold color like other color hair. So I gave up my red red color and am now lightest golden brown.cry People still call me a redhead. I don't tell them otherwise. innocent

Carrie I've been meaning to tell you this, but I LOVE your hair style and color!! sexy I've all way wanted straight, swingy hair. What hair color does your hairdresser use? Drew uses Redken Shades EQ on me and I love it! It's a semi-transparent plastic coating that makes your hair extremely shiny! I use 06G ST. TROPEZ - (Dark Golden Blonde) which deposits cool golden tones on light to medium brown hair (and more importantly cancels the red in my hair). I color that I use is just about the same as my natural color- I love the gloss effect! They make some killer reds that you would love! They also make crystal clear for those who just want shiny hair with no color change.

I use Glisten shampoo and conditioner by mop and Sebastian Shaper Groomer- for that smoother shinny look or Shaper Fiber Wax for a spiky look. I'm a product whore! giggle

no no no! You should NEVER pull out grey hair!! ...or any hair for that matter. It may not grow back in and you have bald spots over time!

Then you need to use Redken Shades EQ over your lightened and gray hair! You'll have shiny blond hair with dimension. nod

I have massive grey hair... and I love it. No more hair coloring for me, which only lasted about four years. What a mess it can be and unnecessarily expensive.

Redken Shades EQ has some grey enhancing products too! Not only will your hair be shiny but your grey can be platinum (the color of the metal, not blonde), silver, different shades of blue or violet (it's very faint). Yes it's expensive but you're worth it! wink

biggrin Thank you!!

My stylist generally uses wella products (though, we've used others) and we change it up a bit almost every time. I've currently got about 4-5 shades of red in my hair, it just blends so well and works with the cut that you can't quite tell unless you're really looking for it. I'll let him know we chould check out the Redken line of reds. And I haven't found a shampoo I'm completely happy with in a while, so maybe I'll have to check that Glisten out!
