Baby Mama's

To all the single mothers here, I pose these questions:

*Do you think you are a "baby mama"?

*Do you think this is a bad term?

*Where do you think the term came from?

This is research cool

Smooches;)

Im not a girl, but as being friend with them and being raised by my mom more technically and because I'm bored...

I believe it is a bad term. When I think of "baby mama" I think single black mother..whom had a baby and the father up and left her. Statistic. I first heard it on the song "My Baby Daddy" by T-Bird...but I know it came from the south at least or Chicago probably.

I love Fantasia's "Baby Mama" dancing jig She makes the word a 'stand up and be proud' word. Props to her!!!

I don't think it was originally meant to be a bad term, just a way of defining a relationship or lack therof. Personally I never really liked the term. I guess because it began to feel like a label. Knocked up by some guy 'SLAP!' ur his baby mama. I guess it was only a matter of time before people started to objectify or define the term instead of just letting it be. That is probably also why Fantasia and others see the need to 'make' it a positive term and less of a stigma. Make any sense?

We've had this thread/debate before.

IMHO it is a bad term to use. It's derogatory and very poor english.

I completely disagree. I'm not "PROUD" to be a single mother but I'm "PROUD" of being a great Mother who is raising a child alone.

Well, compared to "my wife" or my "sweetheart", it's not an overwhelmingly positive term. shrug
