Although a lot of piercings I find sexy...(Chin, Eyebrow, and belly button) some of them are dangerous. I read once that someone almost died because of their tongue piercing. Thing is...the tissue on your tongue is quite different from anywhere else you get pierced. That tissue tares easily and you swallow it with out noticing. This person had an infection on their tongue because of their piercing before...but he had swallowed enough tissue to block his air way and couldn't breathe. I personally would love to get a belly button ring...I think its sexy...but it would be a high risk for infections in a sensitve area. I'll just let this phase pass lol..

"Did it hurt? No, having a 16 gauge needle shoved through your nipple is completely painless." Yes it really hurt. At first it hurt then it felt good, then it hurt again. It eventually just hurt. The funny thing was that at the time I was commuting on train to San Francisco from San Jose. That's about 45 miles or so. Well being on a train and bouncing up and down all over the place made me an unhappy camper. It was painful just sitting there. THEN I found out that the piercings weren't long enough. They were digging into my skin. I had to have them replaced. The woman who did it said "This might hurt more than the initial piercing" GREAT!!!!! More pain. After all that it felt much better. But you know how some people got (maybe still do get) the entire perimeter of their ear pierced? All around the cartilage and stuff? Like 10 or so? To me, that would qualify..... My ex had 20 in each ear, all done by herself. Nasty!

I was pointing to the fact that a person who lives an alternative lifestyle (more likely to get more piercings) may be more likely to, for example, have an unhealthy marriage, leading to divorce because of their culture. Or may be more inclined to create an unwanted pregnancy, leading to abortion. Also they may have experienced childhood trauma in a bohemian/alternative environment and then go on to be bohemian adults in the style they were raised. Also a person who is spontaneous, who truly is getting a tattoo/body piercing just for fun, may also be inclined to make decisions which are not well-thought-out, leading to trauma/pain down the line. Then I realized I'm probably totally wrong, so I edited. BTW I have 3 piercings in each ear, one in my belly button, and am thinking about getting the little flaps in front of my ear canals pierced. Oooohh, very thin ice in terms of political correctness so I can see why you edited. Seriously though, I think you're right. Why shouldn't we be able to draw certain conclusions about "bohemian culture". It's no stranger than stating the obvious fact that more heavy metal fans are into gothic visuals and stories about vampires and such than others even though such things aren't always directly linked to the music. Also a person who is spontaneous, who truly is getting a tattoo/body piercing just for fun, may also be inclined to make decisions which are not well-thought-out, leading to trauma/pain down the line
Then I realized I'm probably totally wrong, so I edited. . You're not totally wrong at all. I can definitely see what you mean about how a carefree personality could lead to both spontaneity (the positive side) and not-so-well-thought-out behaviour. What people might complain about though, is that (arguably) most people don't get tattoos and piercings at a whim. They're usually decisions that have grown out of a long time of thinking. BTW I have 3 piercings in each ear, one in my belly button, and am thinking about getting the little flaps in front of my ear canals pierced.
