A friend of mine told me he had been speaking to Gold319 and she told him that this country was going down the shitpan, he asked where she had heard that and the answer was "oh and elderly couple in the pub had told them".

Go figure!

I love the American sense of humour!! At least they can laugh at themselves, unlike the Brits, who take themselves too seriously and think they are the greatest nation on this planet, of which they are NOT!!!!nod nod

Listen mate, British humour is full of wit and irony. It is intelligent humour which pushes the boundaries to which the likes of you aspire to a long way down the line.

Most of British humour is just way over the head of people like you for the very reason that we have little interest in entertaining people like you - it would require a lapse in intelligent humour to bow to that level.

So really, your comments are really a compliment in disguise - it means we are avoiding the kind of humour you find funny. And we're all the better for it, thankyou very much.

As for the stupidity aspect of your view on the British - just take a good look at the last 100 years or so and see who invented some of the most important things in the world today. Perhaps you can start with the light bulb or the telephone... perhaps the TV, or the steam engine...

Its called superior. Pretentious is reserved for people who ASPIRE to be superior - its a niche, kind of reserved for people who go around accusing their superiors of being pretentious! lol
