I'm so scared

My mom just went to the hospital; she has a partially collapsed lung...I hope she's ok. They're going to give her oxygen to expand her lung, if that doesn't work they might have to take her in for surgery. She's suppose to stay over night so those doctors better do their job, I have faith

What happened? Did it come right out of the blue or did she fall and hurt herself or something?

"In an adult, small regions of atelectasis (partial lung collapse) are usually not life-threatening, because unaffected parts of the lung compensate for the loss of function in the affected area."

These kinds of medical texts are usually overly up front about the risks since the authors don't understand psychology along with the fact that somebody who is affected might actually read the text! Bearing that in mind, I'd say it's very good news; even with their bleak view of things, they still say it's usually not too bad.

I know what it's like to worry about a parent. It can be very tough. Truly honestly though - I don't think you have to worry too much in this case.
