To be honest, it only matters in so far as keeping Gerrard. What would you rather have, the cup itself or the chance to win it next year? The only thing that might top it is the Premiership. To win the cup is better than to finish 2nd, 3rd or 4th in the league. I would hardly want to swap with Everton would I?

Absurd.

True, but you forgot about something very important they're missing out by not playing in the Champions League next year.

That's true, but we're still a better off club than Everton so we won't lose too much sleep over it. Sure, the extra money would be a massive boost, but we'll be fine. We have the trophy in Liverpool now and that can never be taken away from us. Promise means nothing, only winning trophies. We've won the Champions League and how many English clubs can say that in reference to the premiership years? Just two.

And still, there's a slim chance we might be able to defend it anyway. I won't be too disappointed if it doesn't happen as Everton deserve their shot at failing in the qualification stage.
