I think far more people are in relationships that aren't fulfilling...than there are people who are. People start relationships for the wrong reasons (lonliness, comfort, security, etc.), then settle in and make do once those reasons are exposed for being an unstable foundation for committment. I know that I would have ended the marriage I was in years earlier had it not been for my daughter's presence ...she was my reason for attempting to find contentment in my situation. It didn't work, because it was more like I was "running the world's smallest daycare center with someone I used to date"...it was not a loving, passionate, spiritual connection. We werent' husand and wife...we were roommates.
