I don't know if it's in the movie or not, but in the book Mace says "We don't even know what that means." Couldn't he have taken an educated guess???

The fact that Palpatine could be Anakins 'Father'

Grevious wheezes at the start because Mace Windu crushed him in Clone Wars

I just got back from the first show, and I'm speechless. Maybe because I'm too tired and it's 3:10am, I don't know. I'll have to sleep on this and collect my thoughts for later. But to sum it up...

I thought it was excellent. Didn't quite topple Empire as my favorite Star Wars
movie, but it's definitely up there. Ian McDiarmid's Palpatine/Darth Sidious was
simply great to watch, he gets to really let rip as the ultimate bad guy in this
one. So many great moments....

The opening space battle
The active and comic Artoo moments in the first act
The rematch with Count Dooku
(there was an audible gasp from the audience when Anakin lopped off his hands)
Palpatine's revelations to Anakin about the nature of the force and his identity
The showdown between Obi-Wan and General Grievous
(that helicopter lightsaber technique)
The scenes between Anakin and Padme
(they were really strong this time, especially towards the end)
Seeing the Wookie battle on Kashyyyk
The Palpatine and Mace Windu showdown
The Yoda and Darth Sidious confrontation
(loved the way Yoda took out the red imperial guards)
and of course the big Anakin vs Obi-Wan showdown.
(though I do think a lot of the amazing fight choreography was lost a bit due
to most of being in close up... just a minor quibble)
Vader's defeat, burning and transformation
Padme's funeral
The end scene with Owen standing on the ridge of the homestead just like Luke
does in A New Hope.

This seems to be a more appropriate thread for this so for anyone interested, the workprint has found its way onto P2P sites in DVD form (it's a digital copy close to DVD quality...)
The aspect ratio is a little fucked but can easily be fixed with WinDVD/PowerDVD and it has counters on the left and right top throughout the picture, but otherwise enjoyable enough for anyone who's already seen it on the big screen...

I'd disagree with only one thing and that's the padme/anakin thing. I think by the end of the movie it was alright but the first few "love" scenes with just the 2 of them were almost painful to watch for me. Just bad bad bad. But by the end, it was going much better.

And I'd add that the juxtapostion of Luke and Leia's birth with Darth Vader's "birth" was a really, really neat way to do it.

Not a popular opinion I see but I thought the movie was a righteous piece of shit...
The first hour and 45 minutes was a torture, pure unadultered boring crap then about 15 minutes of cool stuff (Anakin flippig out) and then back to lameness in the last 5 minutes of the movie...
If there's a movie from the last years that seems rushed this one's it (it's even worse than "Ray"...)
I expected surprises in it and the ONLY surprise in it was that it has just 1 fucking minute of (the real) Darth Vader in the movie and he has about 2 lines of speech, what the fuck is that about?? And Yoda pussying out, fucking weak little frog...
IMO this one makes the "trilogy of lifeless crap" truly complete...
No more Star Wars for me, I hope Lucas croaks soon and that someone will actually have the balls to release the "unspoiled and not enhanced to fully crapness" original trilogy on DVD where I can marvel at Han Solo just being a badass and shooting that green fuck Greedo first...

This Star Wars was the best one yet.

Very few jokes, no Jar Jar binks. Serious and dark, the sets and costumes fabulous. Anikin is unbelievably sexy, with his low eyebrow smoldering good looks, and great body.

A few were dressed up, which I thought was adorable, and since it was a midnight showing, only diehard fans were there. Just previous to starting the movie, the manager came out and said "Everyone who has a light saber fire it up!" A loud scream ensued, and all sabers glowed enthusiastically. Then he said, "OK, that the last time until the end of the movie, turn 'em off, or surrender them until the end of the film!" and everyone laughed and booed!

Got there 45 mins early and the joint was packed! Had to set in the 2nd row which sucked! My neck and back are killing me!
