Saving Face - A Quality Movie about Same-Sex Relationships? It's rare that the entertainment industry releases a decent movie about same-sex relationships. It happens, but they're few and far between. Rarer still are quality movies about same-sex relationships between people of color. Saving Face looks like it has potential - a romantic comedy (how I loathe that term) about two Asian American women whose relationship with each other is put to the test when one's pregnant mother moves in with them. Alice Wu directs and Joan Chen stars. The film opens in limited release on 27 May. Check out the trailer.

The trailer's kinda lukewarm. I'll probably see it anyway.

It doesn't look great, but looks cute enough and like its got some heart to it. I like Joan Chen a lot, so I'm always glad to see her working. I'm just kinda tired of blah films like Trick and Broken Hearts Club.

I liked Broken Hearts Club at first, but on repeat viewing it lost a lot for me. Really, really syrupy and just ridden with cliche.
