New computer time I lost a motherboard on one so I need to get another. Lets hear what you do like.... dislike.... etc.....
It's been years since I have looked into one. My laptop is a HP. I love it and have never had a problem. ?????

I've actually been thinking about getting a laptop. Seen a pretty good one for only 666 euro ($840) today. I'm debating with myself whether or not I really need it. I probably don't, but being the dumbass I am I will probably get it anyway.
The other option I have is to upgrade the desktop I got. All I really need is a new motherboard, cpu and ram. That will set me back about 400 euro ($500). [Edited 5/22/05 20:55pm]

The one I was looking at comes with an 8x, double layer dvd burner. It's so sexy. [Edited 5/22/05 21:08pm]

I wonder how hard it will be to find someone to purge 2 hard drives onto an external for me??? I can't be bothered to do it. Life is busy enough lately!

My 12" Apple PowerBook G4 can burn both CD's and DVD's. If I want to use it as a stereo, I simply plug my Harman Kardon SoundSticks II into the audio out jack. I've even connected my Technics SL-1200 MK3D turntable to the audio in jack (with a preamp in the middle). If you decide to get a PowerBook, be sure to get one with the SuperDrive... the Combo Drive can read both CD's and DVD's, but can only burn CD's. Come to think of it, you've seen my PowerBook before. A Celeron? How well does that do for you? Seems like a lot of the cheap laptops all have Celerons in them...something I've steered clear away from in building desktop PCs. The rest of the components you list seem pretty good, though.

I forgot to mention... if you're going to buy a PowerBook, hold off until Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference 2005 (June 6-10). It's possible that they'll announce an upgrade to the current PowerBook series. Who knows, maybe they'll even announce the long-awaited PowerBook G5. I get what you're saying and for the longest time I've stayed away from them too, but honestly I'm not doing much CPU intensive computing these days. It's mostly browsing the web, some IM'ing and downloading. Do I really need a P4 or AMD Athlon for that? I don't think so. Besides, the Intel Mobile platform really kicks ass.
