#1 - teach them to behave properly in public.
#2 - bring plenty of items to entertain them (books, toys, bubble-wrap and whatever else your kids likes to play with). #3 - don't expect to sit back and relax. You'll need to spend most of the flight keeping them occupied and well-behaved. My wife has been flying with toddlers and babies with little incident for YEARS (my oldest is 7 and first flew at 18 mos.) Never had a meltdown. Take books, pencils and anything else the child loves doing. Have some treats and drink near you so that you can use them to bribe. lol For every 20 minutes that they are good...you give them a treat. Works eveytime. Exactly! When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

its interesting to read the comments of those that have kids, vs those that have been around kids - PLEASE dont think im commin down on you, cuz im not but until you have a kid that you KNOW wont work with you in this situation, you surely cant understand the momma that knows what its gonna turn into. the comment - teach your kids how to behave in public - just wondering, what do you think we do as mothers ? do you really think that we just say hey, go do whatever you wanna do
a plane, a long car ride, a train... whatever the case is, these are things that are totally out of the norm for a child that has learned to live life around the stability of the home and a normal routine, so 'teach them to behave' doesnt really come into play here. girl, seriously, i KNOW im gonna get bashed for this, but i dont care talk with your doctor about what the amount would be for benadryl. you know, make sure you give the proper amounts... its not going to hurt the baby if done right, and you will have an easier time if the child feels more relaxed. in a situation like a plane.. if the kid starts to lose it, youre gonna feel more stressed, the baby picks up on that - the cycle starts then and you will have a tough time getting either one of you to be able to relax just call and ask... surely it cant hurt to find out if its an option good luck girly One of the best days of my life... http://prince.org/msg/100/291111

Am I reading this correctly? You have a hard time with "teaching proper behavior to a child", and yet you condone DRUGGING the child instead?!?! W-W-W-W-HHHHHAAAAATTTTT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! The plane/car/train ride shouldn't be the first instance to try to get the child to behave. The child should be taught right from DAY 1. From the time the baby is only 6 months old and doesn't want to sleep in his/her crib. Rules need to be set and adhered to. Believe you me...my 3 kids are NO saints. They are loud, rambunctious, strong-willed children who would jump off the chandeliers if we allowed it. But that's the POINT...WE DON'T!!! A large part of "the stability of the home and a normal routine" is learning proper behavior. Behavior at home, behavior at school, behavior at the playground, behavior at the mall. It's OUR job as parents to instill our kids with these skills. By St. Boogar and all the saints at the backside door of Purgatory!
