What should I get for my dad's birthday?

My dad is turning 56 soon and I'd like to send him a present. It has to be small and not weigh too much since I'm going to send it to another continent. It's okay if the present costs aroound $80 US (maximum $100 US).

He just bought an old sportscar (an Austin Healey from '67 I think) so I figured I could get him a pair of sixties style driving gloves and maybe an Austin Healey key chain, but I can't find those things here. His other hobbies include electronic gadgets, reading, travelling, movies (I've given him DVDs several times though), music, wine, photography.

Any ideas?

I figured someone would suggest E-Bay, but unfortunately I don't have time to wait for shipping etc. I should have mentioned that from the start. Thanks though!

Pretty much everything from Frank Sinatra and Gerry Mulligan to Garbage and Eels. He doesn't like it if it's too "strange" though. It has do be melodious. Then again, he does dig a lot of Prince's less accessible stuff.

If he likes Sinatra, he'd LOVE this one:

Wow, font, pose, soft lens, title; it all seems like pure cheese! lol

But okay, I'll take your word for it. I'll see if I can find it in the wrecka stowe now that I'm heading downtown.

Thanks!

Maybe I should ask this: What did you guys get for your dads on their birthdays last year?

I'm very sorry to hear that. Nice of you to visit him. A lot of people don't care enough or are too stressed or too afraid of their own mortality to visit their loved ones that have passed away. I'm sure he could see you when you were there.

Edit: grammar

Okay, I went down town and found a couple of electronic gadgets. Nothing that was all that superfun, but this is what I might get for him:

1. A little remote control for his laptop computer so that he can make presentations at work without having to walk up to his laptop every time he wants to switch slides. This little gadget also comes with a laser pointer.

2. A miniature computer mouse so that he can use his laptop while he's flying too, and not have to caress that damn built in mousepad-thingie.

3. A couple of burned DVDs with around fifteen compressed (but high quality) movies so that he can watch them on his computer while he's travelling.

All these things obviously have to do with his computer and travelling/work, but I kind of like it that way. It's a "theme package". What do you think? Is it too boring?

Thanks! I feel encouraged now. smile

And I do think there's a chance that he'll like the gifts themselves too. They're the kinds of things that make you go "oh..eh..thanks...I guess" when you open the present, but then when he's at work actually doing his presentation he'll love having the remote control thingie.
