I've got a uniquely close group of friends and I just sort of assumed you could find that anywhere. That people are people and you're bound to find those you connect with no matter where you go. And in some respects, that seems true and in others, it's not always true.

In the beginning of last year, my ex/current/sort-of, N., had his friend Julia come over from Australia. I hated Julia, because Julia was N.'s ex-girlfriend, preceding me. I'd snooped and saw where she'd sent him topless photos, and I was disgusted with her anyhow. She was closer to N.'s age, and they seemd to share a lot.

So, I hated her, called her every damn name in the book, and through jealous fits when he talked of getting together with her.

In November, I ended up talking to the chick, and we immediately became wonderful friends. If we could get N.'s ex-wife in on it, we often joke about having a sort of N.'s "First Wives Club" ha. I'll be going over to Tasmania to see her the end of the year.
