It always helped me to find real Spaniards online and stuff, with mics, and do voice chat and such.
I actually wrote a Spanish book for a class I had which I'd be happy to send you. It at least has some practical vocabulary and explains things in terms that I think most any one could understand. 84 pages of hard work! Anyhow, find some Spaniards to talk to. I have two friends who have helped me immensely. Another thing that has helped me is listening to music in Spanish. You can look up some Manu Chao or something. His stuff is generally somewhat simple, at least, "Me gustas los aviones, me gustas tu" and so on. For instance, there is a song he did which has a line that goes, "Volando vengo, volando voy" which is how I remembered not only the word "flying" but also, for a time, I got mixed up on coming and going. So there we have, "Flying I come, flying I go." Worked for me. Music tends to stick in your head, and if you look up the lyrics to go along with it and memorize them, it can be a help. Insatiable taught me everything I know about balls.

It drove me crazy when I first heard it, such that I came home and downloaded it and then ended up downloading all the songs from the cd. I really get down to "Le Rendez-vous" but that taught me the broken French I know. Which is to say, I don't know French, but I can sing along with that song. We listened to the one called "Que Hora Son" from the same album, which, honestly, can help a person tell time. "Que hora son, mi corazon" Heh heh. And yes, I know my post is missing proper accents. SON LAS DIEZ Y OCHO! Heh. Insatiable taught me everything I know about balls.

Watch Spanish soap operas and try to follow the story line. Unlike American soap operas, each lasts a few months or so.
A girl I know did just that.... she watch about 9 of them and begun hanging out with spanish speaking individuals. Now her spanish is better than mine

I agree, relocating for about a yr or so in the country who's language u want 2 learn, nothing beats that, good luck.
JoeyMFinCoco said: Move to a country where the only official language is Spanish? I speak 5 languages and I can say nothing beats being surrounded all day by people who speak the language. The best thing is to work in one of those countries and being forced to speak the language daily.
If that's out of the question then I guess taking Spanish class with an actual teacher is best so they can correct your pronunciation immediately. It's sucks finding out a few months later that you never really pronounced a word correctly. Takes a lot of effort to change that again.
