I'm A Graduate! Of Second City, that is.
I performed my final show with the beginner's improvisation class I've been with for the past year, and as of Saturday, I completed my 'core' education as a Second City performance student! Of course, now I'm a little bummed because I spent a year learning how to perform with the same group of people and now we're all going our own separate ways. I'm hoping we can get together sometime in the future and put on a real, live, honest-to-gosh production at Second City, but in the meantime I'm gonna take classes at another theater over the summer, then start writing courses at Second City this fall. I'm also auditioning for Second City's Conservatory program next month, so I might be falling right back in with the same folks I studied with over the past year. Or not. I'm just happy I did something I wanted and I saw it through. It's a good feeling.

Best of luck with the upcoming stuff.

thanks!
it was a crazy experience to look back on, though it was only a year. it was kinda like being on Survivor - we started out our first level of classes with almost 20 people, and every term more people would drop out until we got to our final round of classes, and there were only eight of us left...and two people dropped out before the whole thing ended last weekend. also: it's funny to think back on our first term and how much we all sucked compared to what we were able to do on stage last weekend. i don't consider myself at all seasoned or ready to knock on lorne michael's door (though i'd rather knock on jon stewart's door, to be perfectly honest), but the past year has gotten me to a point where i feel comfortable in the "community" of people who perform and write at second city, and i feel all kinds of possibility as long as i stay committed and receptive to everything going on there. and if i just end up doing a few shows in chicago and that's that...then cool! i'm having a ball. it was just an amazing thrill to perform last weekend on the same stage as all those who went on to do great comedy, from the original SNL cast on up to amy sedaris and paul dinello. if i decided not to take the improv/sketch comedy thing any further, i can at least say i did that.

Does that mean, you'll be nice again?
Congratulations though! I know when I graduated from school, it felt less like an accomplishment and more like I survived the plaugue.

I would congragulate you , anx, but I'm still mad about that camel spider you gave to to warm my vagina with. Haters travel in packs and they are offended or threatened by klhk, haters express intense hostility toward the subject of hate. Haters are annoyed and roll thier eyes when klhk is paid a compliment. ask yourself, are u a hater?

Anxy, if you go on SNL or any other TV show, will you be forced to pretend you are striaght for the sake of your acting career like so many other secretly gay/lesbisn celebrities? Just asking? nah. i don't really have a desire to do gay-themed stuff and be mr. OUT! OUT! OUT! (not that there's anything wrong with that ), but whatever work i do, i'm gonna be up front and casual about my orientation. if i ever get a gig doing comedy writing or performing, whether it's big or small, i don't see what being gay or straight has to do with being funny. that's just my take on it.

I can't believe that's a while year ago though. I remember your thread about it when you first started. "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

That's really cool-I wonder what avenue you'll be taking on later, As a huge SNL fan, I like to think it's always a possibility a comedy revolution could be started from someone on the Org. ...and if there's money in said revolution, let me know.
