What is your Impact on the world?

I just returned from seeing the movie "Crash" and it is laced with messages from Karma to simple Metaphysics, and "should" make you think about the world around you and your impact within the grandest of schemes to your own microcosms. So I ask you....

When is the last time you felt good about "how" you exist on a day to day level?

Are you truly happy with you contribution to those around you?

What is your impact on the world?

By the way...."Crash" is an excellent movie!

smile nice questions for setting intentions for dream work tonight

maybe i'll get back with ya on this one

When is the last time you felt good about "how" you exist on a day to day level?

Are you truly happy with you contribution to those around you?

i often feel very good about how i live my life on the day to day level, though i dont let myself get comfortable in that space because e all can improve on that !!

truely happy ... most times yes, often times i loose alittle patience with my mom who has alzheimers that i care for a few hrs each day and that sometimes causes me to not be truely happy with what i contribute ... like the above though, it helps me to nt get comfortable ( lazy ) and to strive to do more / better

i believe everything we do, say, write and even think has an impact on everything around us and the world as a whole ... i keep this in mind and try to make my outword expressions of energy positive ...i feel i have a postive impact, but again, there are those moments that i know i am not putting out my best and i take the time to notice how the negitive energy shows back up in my llife from the ripples ... i take the lessons and try to learn / improve

no ONE is perfect and no ONE has only a positive impact on this earth

trying your very best to do it as much as possible and to learn from your negitive impacts is an important job for sure

peace

im constantly thinking about karma, and how it'll affect me...
i speak 2 anyone that comes up and talks 2 me...im nice 2 them, i dont see why i need 2 fear them...
i try and pass down my love 4 the arts, it really helps 2 open eyes hearts minds and souls...and i feel if i can touch @ least one person with my art, then i've made a positive impact on the world...

I keep hearing GOOD THINGS about this film,
I think I am going to go see it, maybe this coming weekend..

to answer Dex's q's :

- I usually "feel good" about how I exist on a day-to-day level, I usually have a positive attitude; this goes A LONG WAY..

- I would say I'm "reasonably satisfied" with the "modest" contributions I make to others.. I make a point not to "rest on my laurels" too much, I would rather look for or try to do something more or better for others..

I think 1 of my main goals in life is to bring together people who normally would never meet,
this is something I know I'm good at, this is something I've done many times before - many more times than not with positive results..
I'll see you tonight..
in ALL MY DREAMS..

I have two great daughters who will go on and do wonderful things.

I will tell them often how much I love them and how proud of them I am so they will not have the self-esteem issues I had (and have).

They will do things I never dreamed of and bring impact that I never had the courage to.

They will be doctors or lawyers or musicians or housewives or politicians...whatever vocation will have no effect on my pride.

They will be my legacy and my impact and my hope.
All good things they say never last...

My little contribution to this world. "Listening"

To anyone at anytime.

I had a cousin commit suicide because he had no one that would listen to him when he needed to talk. Unfortunately he went home and blew his brains out.

From that day on, I decided that if anyone, even a perfect stranger came up to me and needed to talk, I'd listen. Money I might not have, but time, I've got enough of that to give.

Even people that don't speak English come to me just to talk. (Guess I just have that look) Anyway, they talk. I listen and that's it.

You never know what's going through a person's mind at any given time and if someone just listening will prevent them from doing something life threatening to themselves or someone else, then so be it.

May not seem like much, but I don't want any individual I come into contact with to take their life or someone else's because someone didn't have the "TIME" to just listen.

Probably when I was three and before I hit my natural existential stage that everyone has to face with for the rest of their lives.

Are you truly happy with you contribution to those around you?

I don't know.

What is your impact on the world?

I make people feel better about themselves. Just by looking at me.

By the way...."Crash" is an excellent movie!

Umm? That movie was pretty damn perverted if you ask me. Altough there were some scenes included that were kind of hot, but in overall it was definitely demented. eek

everytime i've seen a reference to 'crash' on here in the last couple o' days, i've assumed it was about that pervy film released years ago - apparently it's a new film just out in the US at the moment. wink - a totally different, 'Crash'.

I try so hard to live by karma.. In the way I am with others, and the deeds I do in my daily life. And the way that I treat me.

I cannot say that I impact the world, but I impact the microcosim that is called my family.

I feel good everyday about what I contribute to my community, but I would feel better if I didn't have to give anything at all you see...

I'm an emergency foster home for infants and toddlers from birth - 3yrs old. I take them in anytime day or night. I also take in abandoned babies.

I also try and teach my children to be kind loving people, to respect themselves, the enviornment, and others around them..

I think the greatest compliment is when you didin't even know you've made an impact on someones life and they express what you've done for them.

About 8 years ago I facilitated a workshop on grief. I wasn't the speaker but because of the speaker was so awful I just took over the worksop. Years later I ran into a man that participated in the workshop. He gave me this huge hug and a leather bound journal that he carried with him just in case he ever ran into me again. He told me how much I changed his life. I stood there in shock because I didn't even remember what was even said in the workshop. That blessed me. Now he is clean and sober and works in HIV prevention.

And just last week, a friends daughter thanked me for helping her through a trying time. I was surprised again for the compliment. She told me that by me sharing my experiences and offering encouragement it helped her move out of her situation.

So I don't know exactly what I do. I love community involvement, I love working with women in transition, and I love doing HIV prevention work. So I just do what I love.

The one thing that I think is one of my greatest impact on the world is my daughter. At 14, she is a great kid. She is very in touch with her emotions, needs and wants. I'm so proud to say she is my child and that the world will benefit from her point of view and her own committment to others.

That is impressive...but kids are not as apt to perpetuate or facilitate stereotypes like adults will. Plus, the karmic ingredient is something that parents need to explain to their kids as the movies images are intertwined so beautifullly and magically. It is a great film to own! I will no doubt buy it when it hits the shelves.

I would agree. Its very interesting to listen to her take on it. My kid has been around every type of human being (because of my past job) so her take on people is interesting.

I saw half of the movie last night, and in a few I'm going to watch the other half. I think Luda was making some good ass points :point: and to answer your questions:

1. The last time I felt good about "how" I existed on a day to day level was.....i don't know. I always feel that I have to accomplish something everyday and I go out and try and accomplish that thing. So I think I feel that my existance is needed and therefore wanted in today's society. I have so much to offer to the worls, and so little time to do it.

2. Sometimes I am and sometimes I'm not. It's really a flick of the mood type thing to me. One second I'm the kindest, coolest person to just chill andlaugh with, the next, I am the bitch you wanna slap. So I think that I can IMPROVE on what I say, and therefore, not let people down as much as I do now. I contribute a lot when I want to and how I want to. If you are in desperate need of something, I'll see what I can do to make sure that whatever you need to be done is done. But at times, I can contribute a lot more if I put my mind to it.

3. I have no idea what my impact on the world is. I hope that I motivate people to stay on the right path and don't get caught up in all the bullshit today's society is suffering. That they can do whatever they damn-well please and will not let anyone tell them otherwise. I hope that I encourage people to be themselves and not someone others want them to be. To just loosen up, live and let live. So to answer the question, I surely hope I do.
