You will find only directions to the meet-up place on Queen’s Day, because almost everyone is staying in another place and I can’t be bothered to map out a route for the lot of y’all. So, get a map or use http://www.routenet.nl/ which has an English button to the top right of their homepage.
Print those maps from the addresses you are staying and mind the routes given are for CARS, which most of you won’t use. But it will give you a general bearing of where you are and where you are going. I am always available to help you out over phone, or prior, via mail or org note.

Here we meet the early ones! We will meet up, introduce and I will feel a bit awkward, as I always do in these circumstances.

When all who confirm to meet me there have arrived, we will relocate to the closest step up onto a canal boat. It’s corny, but traditional.
After that, I would like to take you for a stroll through the red light district.

After the stroll, we can go to hotels and boarding rooms to freshen up OR head somewhere to eat. Most places will be getting ready for Queen’s Night, but I am sure we can find a nice affordable place to hang out until we meet up again at the next hot spot.
We will have to make a choice about this BEFORE y’all get on the plane!

As it is Queen’s Night, the night before Queen’s Day, it will be busy, so wear easy shoes. Make sure you had dinner, because I doubt the kitchen will be open at Queen’s Night.
The square in front of Finch will be REALLY busy because of Queen’s Night, so we will have to cut out our own niche. But the people there assure me the actual place (not the square) is quiet because most people will be in the square. There will be a DJ, playing disco, soul and house music. At 23:30 we will relocate to the next place.

We will go see the ‘unveiling’ of the traditional royal mock-up; a huge caricature of a person of the royal family. VERY busy place, so if you do not want to lose each other; stay close.

After this it is kind of off to hotels, home or whatever. Feel free to explore the cities rich offerings, but don’t drink or smoke too much cuz this is just the upbeat to the real street party on the 30th.

Saturday the 30th.

People coming from OUT of Amsterdam will have to get up early, as later on the day, around noon, the public transport will be out in the city centre and it will get you hours to walk to the meet up.
At my house my sleep over’s and I will slowly wake up with coffee. Anyone who wants to come early and then head into town with us is welcome to come over and join us!

Meet up at Westerpark. As public transportation will be out, we will stay stationary on this spot until all people who have confirmed to being there have arrived.

Directions;
It’s easy to reach from Central Station; walkout of main entrance, turn right. After passing underneath passage of hotel tower, turn left; cross bridge, turn right.
Pass underneath bridge, then turn right into Haarlemmerstraat, (which you will remember by then as we have met up there the night before)
This street you keep following. It will turn into Haarlemmerdijk and then will hit Haarlemmerplein (Harlem Square), where you see a tribute portal, rather huge, which you pass on the left.
While passing the next bridge you will see Westerpark in front of you. After the bridge you cross the street, turn right and follow the park until you hit the entrance, just before the railwaytunnel.
When you enter the park you will see me and some other people to the left, lounching on the grass if the weather is right.

This is where we’ll hang until everyone is there. When everyone IS, we will relocate to the Jordaan, a very nice place to see all the hoopla, but at a certain point I think we all just should do our own thing; there are many different event, some big, some small. It will be hard to keep everyone together in the throng of people and I do not feel like policing the lot of you through the crowds because I can promise you; we will probably loose eachother. Make sure you have back up plans with the people you are with.

I myself am planning to walk from the Jordaan to Reguliersdwarsstraat, which is Gay Central. Fhunkin will be here behind a bar and I would love to meet up with him and score a free beer, lol.

Queens’ Day is mayhem, y’all. Amsterdam centre is ONE big block party with people dressed in the royal colour orange. Most people will be drinking, so expect loudness and people acting silly. Also expect HORDES of people, esp. around the main streets and Central Station.

Again; it will be busy, so wear easy shoes. At the end of the day there will be trash in certain places, so you might want it to be shoes that can get dirty too.

Most people walk from one performance to the other, but my idea is to stay in ONE spot, where we can witness the craziness passing by and hopefully some performances. If we are lucky, we are near a spot that sells drinks, but they will be expensive. Best thing is to bring your own drinks AND food, as the street food stalls might me haphazard when it comes to hygiene rules.

Saturday evening is evening off, as I bet people will be tired, hung over-ish or both. I plan to spend it on my couch, watching the mayhem on the tele and sipping tea. See what you do; most of the city will be a mess and most café’s kinda dead, I presume.

Sunday May 1st.

Sleep in time! The lounge day! This is the day we will visit the Vincent Van Gogh museum, after which we will relocate to Pur Sang again.

Most people need about two hours to stroll through the museum. After two hours we will meet up at the café until everyone is there, then head off to Pur Sang OR another place, if Jürgen or Maarten or any other Dutch person can come up with a better place, maybe near the Van Gogh Museum.

This is the goodbye party for the people that leave that same day or the day after! And also where everybody will be able to pick up the Official Amsterdam Invasion Present! It’s something you all will like.
