By the way, telling you about the fact that he tried it was just a way of giving you a tangible example of a way that he is more open-minded than you give him credit for. Yeah I know that in and of itself doesn't make him a saint, it was just something I could give as an example, instead of just "He's open-minded in political conversations." (Which, by the way, he is.
