Dreamweaver

Who knows this program?

I have to make eight more tasks for university in three weeks. Two of them are webquests (for secondary education) I have to make by using this program Dreamweaver. One in Dutch and one in English

It has stayed away for too long, but now the computer-fear is becoming rather unbearable.

Anyone who can calm me down?

If it would be possible to make two web quests in about four days time. My computer knowledge is minimal, my inspiration rather dry but they tell me I have very flexible brains...

sigh

In fact, I don't understand the purpose of these 'web quests'. Internet-based tasks, yeah right.

Why can't I just say; 'Guys, take a pencil and a piece of paper. I want this specific task to be finished on x, I want you to do x, the criteria will be x, the media you may use x. You can look for information on the internet or at your local library'

Why make a web quest out of it? Djeeeeezus.

If you just need to make some static pages of information, 4 days is plenty time. If they want you to pull data dynamically from a database, that may be biting off more than you can chew if youre just starting out with Dreamweaver.

Do they already have an existing site designed with Dreamweaver that they want you to work from? Whoever built the site may already have some templates for the pages that you can build yours from.

I have a 50-page manual written by the one who wants us to complete this task And I have a 1 month trial-version on my computer, I downloaded it from the net yesterday

And I thought I had a fantastic boyfriend willing to help me. But now he's stepping out of the project. sad

So you need to convert the 50 page manual to web pages?

No, the manual is supposed to tell me how dreamweaver works, I guess specificallu to create a web quest for educationary goals.

I have to create two webquests. One in English. One in Dutch. I have to present the students with a task they can complete using the internet.

I'm now writing down some ideas in Word. I guess I'll do something with the importance of looks in our society.

part 1 : go find some extravagant people on the street, take a picture, and ask them about their looks and what defined them.

part 2 : search on the net for sites about other cultures. What is 'beauty' or 'fashion' to them?

Compare these findings to your own.

You get an idea?

Oh that should be a piece of cake. The example shown for "on the web" is very basic html, nothing fancy at all.

File > New > Basic Page > HTML

Then use the Format menu (in the Properties pane) to format your text as necessary (make headers bold, certain words italic, etc...). Then save the page.

The only thing you need to consider, is plan out how you want to allow the user to navigate those pages. You will need a menu of links somewhere across the top or down the side. You may want to make a seperate page for each category of the manual, then place a link to each page across the top for example.

Using Dreamweavers template feature or library items feature will make this alot easier for you.

If they don't mind, you can avoid using dreamweaver alltogether, and simply create your pages in Word, then from within Word export them as HTML.
