SCHOOL BUS CRASH - hard day around here.. its been rough this morning here in our area... coverage has been on TV since about 8:45 this morning, its now 11:30... what a sad thing
http://www.thekansascityc...etail.html School Bus Collides With Vehicles; 2 Dead 26 Injuries Reported POSTED: 8:41 am CDT May 9, 2005 UPDATED: 11:03 am CDT May 9, 2005 LIBERTY, Mo. -- A school bus carrying 38 students was involved in a fatal collision Monday at Highways 152 and 291. KMBC's Dan Weinbaum reported that the school bus was southbound on Highway 291 and veered to the right and clipped two vehicles at about 8:30 a.m. Several students were reported hurt. A spokeswoman from the city said that there were 26 injuries. Liberty School District superintendent Dr. Scott Taveau said that of those injuries 23 were children. A list of names of injured students was posted on the school district's Web site. "Well, obviously, this is our worst nightmare," an emotional Taveau told reporters. Police chief Craig Knouse confirmed two people died in the accident, but he would not identify which vehicles they were in until the victims' families had been notified. KMBC confirmed that the fatalities were from the other vehicles and not from the school bus. The bus driver was reported to be in good condition. A spokesman with the school district said it was bus No. 80 that was involved in the wreck. The school bus was headed to Ridgeview Elementary School. "My mom and I were on our way down to Curves, coming down 152 Highway, we looked up and we saw the bus just fly through the air. It was airborne and it came just crashing down on its side. I kept on saying to my mom, 'We did not just see that. We did not just see that,'" a woman told Weinbaum. The woman said that she and her mother pulled off the side of the road and helped get the children off the bus. The woman said several students had been cut and many were crying and asking for their parents. Steven Perry said he was the first person to reach the bus. He said children were crying and visibly upset. "Some kids were wedged between seats. Kids that had back injuries or feeling dizzy, I just left there and I just started handing kids out through the window," Perry said. Watch KMBC at 12 p.m. for the latest on this story. very sad One of the best days of my life... http://prince.org/msg/100/291111

@ 8:30! I had just put my son on the bus. We were at our church early this morning and it just reiterated why we pray for protection. True, things happen, but that is another part of life. Sad. BTW NPP, did u ever get a chance to sign the petition to keep that child molester out of Lawrence? Shake....shake, shake, shake.

NO children have been reported as dying, only the 2 drivers of the cars that the bus hit - they were 2 men in cars alone, both died on impact according to people who were there and tried to help just after the accident. it is MY belief... be it right or wrong... its my job to deliver my babies to school everyday. i just have run out of trust for people around us. this woman may be totally innocent, and i pray that she is and that bus may be in perfect working order, and i pray that is true too but, none of that makes any difference today and yes, i know, there are accidents everyday, and you are more likely to die driving your own babies to school than in a bus, but something about trusting someone i dont know to drive my babies to school in this day and age, i just dont trust. things like this make it hard on parents to be able to trust the 'system' designed to take care of our babies out there One of the best days of my life... http://prince.org/msg/100/291111

I was gonna say something like that. Seems there's always some drama "around here". Beware folks, don't even move to a place called "around here". It's nothing but trouble.

I understand where u are coming from. My heart sank and continues to when his bus pulls away. His first day they had to tell me that i couldn't go. I can't always trust people so I have to trust God and enjoy and love every minute. Life is so unsure. We all expect tomorrow and I am sure they did too. I had to learn how to not live in fear. Although, when I am able to, I will be driving my son to school hopefully. If not for anything else but to save time. His bus comes so late that i have to rush to work. There is nothing wrong with how u feel NPP.
BTW, I have not heard anything else about that child molester moving to your area. Yes there was a petition though and when I heard of it I thought of u. I am quite sure they have succeeded. They will proably try to move him here next. Also I stay down the street from where they had Erica's memorial service. I was at work, but from what I did see It was a beutiful service. The lady that raised her came in from Oklahoma. Then they went to the memorial park close to where she was found. [Edited 5/9/05 15:37pm] Shake....shake, shake, shake.

[Edited 5/9/05 15:37pm] sugar, i dont want you to think i was passing any sort of 'judgement' on ya for sending the babies on a bus its just i have problems with trust for anyone i dont know... trust me, my kids want to do a whole lot more than i let them do i keep them home out of fear mostly - and THATS not fair to them but, i really dont know what else to do... its just so scary out there i wanted so badly to go to the service, but, by the time i looked up i had 6 kids here, and i just couldnt see taking 6 kids to a memorial service im so glad that woman came up from oklahoma i wanted to see love poured out in her name... and its great to know that even though that silly bitch that gave birth to her cant act human, she at least has a lot of other folks that hold her memory dear and who pray for her ... yeah, there is quite a bit of things that go on around these parts joey.... but, if i put every single story of the NICE things that folks do, we would never get through it all evil is everywhere, theres no doubt about that. but, there is also wonderful things that happen here everyday from a girl who lives in "that place" One of the best days of my life... http://prince.org/msg/100/291111
