I'm an African-American woman, and I desperately want to have a tatoo removed. Has anyone else (preferably AA) had a tat removed? My biggest fear is scarring. My tatoo is a small butterfly, and it's located on the front of my thigh. I'm so tired of looking at this! But I am afraid that I will scar. Can someone give me some pointers?? Please!

I am a African-American woman too. I had a Nefertiti head removed from my right thigh due to skin cancer. I did some research and only chose a Dr. who has experience with our skin. I asked for references i want to see pics and real people who were Black who she worked on. Plus i asked her about her schooling and how much experience she had with our type of skin.

Let me tell you she saved my life and I am not scarred up at all. I used Dr. Palmer's Skinn Success soap and fade cream on the area after it healed for like 6 months and the area is perfect now.

When she used the lasers she did only small areas at a time. It healed really good was actually just left with an outline. That tattoo I only had fro 6 months unil the cancer came up.

I was very pleased because she was patient with me, answered all my questions, and I talked to her patients myself. They were pleased as well and not scarred up bad at all not matter their hue of Blackness.
