I made the Switch to Mozilla Firefox!

i have had so many security problems with Internet Explorer that i finally got frustrated and decided to switch to Mozilla and so far this browsers seem to be much better than Internet Explorer..its faster and i havent gotten any spy/ad ware at all so far...since most of the hackers concentrate on exploiting Internet Explorers horrible security i think Mozillla Firefox is the way to go right now

I've been using it for almost two months now and the only which bothers me is the plug-in problem I sometimes encounter.

Firefox can't handle the html coding in some sites (like my own). I liked it until I came across this observation. Stupid Firefox. mad

Maybe the reason you have security issues is from the porn sites you're going to. wink

I had Mozilla Firefox; switched over because my computer guy told me it was better and faster than Internet Explorer. I didn't like it because it slowed my computer down (pages took longer to load) and because I couldn't get into some internet sites. I switched back over to Internet Explorer, and I will never use Firefox again. Not worth it, in my opinion, but to each their own. You may have better experiences using it than I have.
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

It's a terrific browser.

My primary browser.

It doesnt' work with all websites, specifically microsoft affiliated ones.

But, by far I prefer it over IE6.

Looks like your HTML is broken. Firefox follows web standards, but IE just follows it's own pseudo-standard.

Right. Firefox is fast in revealing any discovered flaws and fixes them quickly. The severity is also much lower because, unlike IE, Firefox doesn't have hooks into your operating system. Have any of these flaws affected you personally? I didn't think so.

Its a good browser, but has always irked me that is sluggish to load up compared to IE, which pops right up. Also, it can be a bit of a memory hog if you have certain extensions running.

But there are some great extensions that can make it do so much more than IE, that Ive stayed with it for nearly a year now.

Then can you tell me why THIS doesn't work?

http://ncc2012.com/fanfilm/test.html

Every word on the menu is supposed to be an image linked to another URL. It only recognizes the first word's link: "Home." This works perfectly fine in IE. I have yet to try it on any other browser than IE and FF.

You're right. I tried it and it does the same for me.
I think the problem is that IE got so popular that they changed some of the web programming to fit IE, and now all other browsers have problems with websites that were programmed to work best with IE. (sorry, I'm pretty bad at explaining this).
There are many sites that are problematic with FireFox. But most sites work well, and it might take FireFox longer to load at first, but after that it actually works faster. And the tab thing is so useful. Not to mention all the extensions like the one that allows you to change image sizes.

As with any piece of software it just depends on how determined people are to exploit security holes.

source: http://www.frsirt.com/eng.../2005/0493

FrSIRT Advisory : FrSIRT/ADV-2005-0493
CVE Reference : GENERIC-MAP-NOMATCH
Rated as : Critical
Remotely Exploitable : Yes
Locally Exploitable : Yes
Release Date : 2005-05-07

* Technical Description *

A critical vulnerability was identified in Mozilla Firefox, which may be exploited by remote attackers to execute arbitrary commands. This flaw is due to an input validation error when processing specially crafted JavaScript code in the "src" parameter of an "IFRAME" tag or in the "iconURL" parameter of the "InstallTrigger.install()" function (called when installing firefox extension/theme add-ons), which may be exploited via a malicious web page or email to bypass the security restrictions and inject arbitrary JavaScript code, which could lead to a system compromise. The FrSIRT confirmed this vulnerability in Firefox version 1.0.3.

Update - The Mozilla Foundation patched (partially) this vulnerability on the server side by adding random letters and numbers to the "install()" function, which will prevent the actual exploit from working.

* Affected Products *

Mozilla Firefox version 1.0.3 and prior

* Solution *

- Disable JavaScript, or disable the "Allow web sites to install software" option [Tools - Options - Web Features].

The FrSIRT is not aware of any official supplied patch for this issue.
