In June I'm going on a one week road trip to the Rockies. We're hoping it'll be warm enough for camping even on higher altitudes. Maybe we'll end up wrapped in every piece of clothing we have with us, who knows? In any case I'm really looking forward to it. Road trips are always exciting. Even when things go wrong it can be fun because it might take you to places you wouldn't have visited otherwise and "force" you to talk to all kinds of people.

The pic above is from when I drove from Vancouver up to Alaska and then further on to Dawson City where we panned for gold in the middle of an ongoing forest fire. Ahh, memories.

Anyone else who loves road trips? Any interesting stories?

I agree that the gas prices are insane right now. But at least they're not as insane as in Europe. And if you're three or four people in the car who can share, it's really not that bad. Unless you're driving a mega-gas-guzzling old Chevy or something...

Same here! But the problem with adventures is that they're not as exciting if you're actively seeking them. For example, I don't think river rafting is a true adventure. Even though it might stir your blood a bit, you still know what you're going to get and you usually have it under control. However, if you're driving up to the spot where you're going to start the rafting and your car breaks down on the way, forcing you to find a place to spend the night, maybe make a fire etc, then that's a real adventure!

That's why I bought an old car for the last trip. I wouldn't want it to break down, no, no, but if it did...
