Okay, we all do it. Make noises with our mouth to sound like stuff. "Listen, here's a fire engine." The difference with Michael Winslow is that he BECOMES the fire engine. He somehow melds spiritually and emotionally with the objects he is imitating. If you close your eyes when he is performing his magic, you can see the objects in your head and it is disorienting to find that the sounds are being produced by this 150 pound human FX machine.

Watch any of the Police Academy movies. They can survive without Guttenburg (actually by the last 3 he had moved on). They could survive without Bubba Smith. But without Michael Winslow as Officer Jones...forget it. It's like "Gone with the Wind" without Rhett. Michael is Police Academy.

Oh, if only some filmmaker would have the common sense to give this man a job after an involuntary 10 year sabbatical.

Yeah, I could see that. He's pretty heroic.
