Good Will Hunting

I really want to dislike this movie. I really do. Besides the fact that I’m pretty anti-film these days (with the exceptions of Woody Allen, Neil LaBute, documentaries and scant little else), it has so much working against it in my books (despite being mostly shot in Toronto).

I hate the title. I’m not a fan of any of the principals. It has a happy ending. It won an Oscar.

Yet, every time it’s on TV, I’m drawn to it. I like the Minnie Driver character. The story moves me. Knowing Elliot Smith’s fate, his score adds an additional layer of poignancy.

As much of a cynic as I am, I guess that closing line in Shadows & Fog ('We need film's illusions like we need the air') is truer than I'd like to admit.

So, what are your feelings on Good Will Hunting?

I didn't much care for it, but this ranks up with 9s and his love for the Ya-Ya Sisterhood!

Like the movie and the story is written with a Kevin Smith dialog beat at points which helps it IMO.

I would strongly disagree. Smith's dialogue is as natural as Tara Reid's tits.

I find smiths films to be overated. They all seem to be stoner movies.

Never said Kevin Smiths dialog was natural, just said I liked it.

Tara Reid's tits are also in favor with a full understanding of their fakeness.

My point was I find the dialogue in this flick to be more natural than Smith's.

Tara Reid's tits are also in favor with a full understanding of their fakeness.

matt and ben wanted kevin 2 make good will hunting. kevin told them he don't maker other ppls films and if they thought the script was so good, they should go and make it themselves

mallrats then flopped, whilst ben and matt won best original screenplay at the academy awards, whilst robin williams won best supporting actor. they didn't win the other 7 academy awards they were nominated 4 that movie un4tunately, best picutre, best lead male - matt damon, director gus van sant, best supporting actress 4 minnie, best editing, best score and best song

gus van sant then went on 2 b hated 4 his remake of pyscho with vince vaugn of dogeball, be cool and starsky and hutch fame playing norman bates, whilst robin williams made a load of shit movies b4 making a couple of decent ones recently, and matt and ben became 2 of the most popular actors on the planet, as mallrats perfectly showcases

You know, all I remember was that at the time I thought it was overrated. I honestly don't remember much about it, so that says enough about the kind of impression it made on me.

finding forrester was gus's movie with sean conner and rob brown. he also did even cowgirls get the blues, elephant, which was based on the columbine tragedy, and gerry with matt damon and bens brother casey affleck. gerry is a bit slow, altho a good movie. elephant is shot semi documentary style, i think its a gr8 movie. i actually like his version of pyscho, he duplicated all the camera angles and just brought the movie in2 the current day, altho it still gives the same vibe as the original. i like vince vaughn performance, he is a gr8 actor and will go far. his overacting in be cool is 1 of the funniest things i've seen in a long time

american history x was by tony kaye, his first movie, he has only so far realeased 1 other movie called snowblind in 2002 which went by without notice. he didn't even want his own name credited 2 american history x. the studio refused his request 2 use the psydenum "humpty dumpty". there is no connection between amex and gus van sant or kevin smith worth talking about

I like the movie except for Minnie Driver. She is homely and her character was very annoying and full of herself. It was not realistic that Damon's character would be in love with her.

I personally find her unattractive, but I liked her character in the film.
