It's the best show you watch only once on TV. I can't imagine the DVD boxed set selling because once you've seen an episode, it's impossible to go back. Much bettre shows are "The Simpsons", "Law and Order: SVU", and if it can comeback strong (and in an era of people getting bent out of shape over a black boob, I doubt it) "Family Guy".

"Desperate Housewives" is awesome. I haven't missed an episode, and the dvd will be fun to watch again, at least once. It is the best show on tv right now.

Um...so? I mean, I'm gay, but it's theater. Not a documentary. I'm more concerned with the way gays are portrayed, not who plays them. And I RUN from "gay" shows that send the message that all gay guys are whores, interior decorators, or Celine Dion fans.

And anyway, who's gay on that show? Jon's roommate? He was in 1 episode. Bree's son? He was messin' around on that same episode, but he's not a "gay" character. There aren't really any gay characters on that show. Lighten up.

Goodness. I'm not trying to argue. I just tend to stay away from shows with poor "gayness", so to speak. I.E. straight characters playing gay roles which REALLY pisses me off, and i'm not saying that just gay actors should play gay roles, and there are ENOUGH to go around, it's just that i'm tired of seeing it. And since it happened to be on THAT show that EVERYBODY is watching and i just think is SHITTY then i'll focus on some of the other shitty programming on television to waste my vision on.

I wasn't trying to be antagonistic. I was just saying, there aren't any gay characters on that show. biggrin And I was just wondering why someone has to be gay to play a gay character. I don't understand that. My being gay has never defined me that way. It's just who I have sex with. Big deal.

What is poor "gayness?" lol Bad clothes? Fake lisp?

Don't be offended. I'm just talking.

question There is only one very minor gay character in "Desperate Housewives" (and I would be shocked if you knew his oreination because he probably isn't that famous). Brie's son has admitted to being bi-sexual (putting his preference in terms of liking one ice cream flavor but sometimes being in the mood for something else...). In other words, don't ignore the show for that reason. It's very good.

I understand your point but there are very few out actors anyway, no? And would you avoid a show that does the opposite? Just asking.

You know what? I'm not even going to BEGIN to answer that question. I don't know how and i doubt i could finish. I just don't see what the hype is about the show. And don't EVEN get me started on "bi-sexuals".....

What do you mean "took it off". There's only been two seasons and the first ended here a few weeks ago, or is it off the air for good. That's a shame. See if you can get the DVDs. It's a pretty good show.

Well i'm sure here we didn't get the 2 seasons (i could be wrong)
it was being showed every tuesday night at 11pm and then all of suddenly it wasn't being aired
tv here in australia is notorious for doing this, they put a show on and then all of a sudden they stop airing it.
I will check out if they do have this on dvd, thanx

Season one came out here nearly right after it aired. While the show is a huge critical hit and that people that watch it like it, I don't think it does well in the ratings (which is a surprise, because it's lead in "The Simpsons" has been doing well for years). It's in danger of going on the chopping block...
BTW, it airs on Fox here and they recently brought back "Family Guy" (a huge cult hit after DVD sales and cable airings). Anyway, the opening of the first show had Pete saying they were cancelled and then he mentioend all the shows that have come and gone on Fox SINCE they were cancelled and it was a shockingly big list! He said if all those shows get cancelled, maybe we have a shot. Surprsingly, many of those shows like "Firefly" and "Wonderfalls" had big enough cult followings to release DVD boxed sets which Fox is surpingly good at yet they won't seem to budge on the belved "Andy Richter Controls the Universe", even though they gave him another sitcom, alhtough it was called "Quintuplets" and it was a terrible show that focused on the kids (in the episodes I attempted to watch) and I'm pretty sure it got cancelled, too, even though they seemed to have brought it back after a short summer run.
