PrintableI must admit I have/had a difficult time with the line..."helping" vs. "enabling." I more frequently enabled and it has cost me...mostly hurt feelings and $$$. This is not a sad thing...just my own way and I have no REAL regrets. For the most part... those I have enable are back/still in my life and I have no regrets....we just have "revised" boundaries. I will admit...age has made me wiser. I recognize when I am not establishing my line...much quicker now!  Thank goodness.
I am going to Enablers Anonymous meetings...getting better now!
