uh, that would be Rosalind Franklin. You know ... The genetic heritage of every normal human being is 23 pairs of chromosomes, one member of each pair coming from an egg and the other from a sperm. A chromosome is a strand of DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) in the nucleus of a cell. A molecule of DNA is shaped like a twisted ladder—the famous double helix—in which the “rungs” are formed by the bonds between pairs of chemicals. Each gene on the chromosome is a series of particular rungs. All cells in the body except the gametes (eggs and sperm) contain all 23 pairs of chromosomes; each gamete contains only a single member of each chromosome pair. In an egg, one of these 23 is a chromosome known as X; in a sperm, the corresponding chromosome is either an X chromosome or a shorter one called a Y chromosome. | |

I still liked the Jeff Goldblum movie. I can't remeber who plays Rosalind but Jeff plays James Watson, the guy I was taught began unlocking the genetic code, back when I believed what was in those books.  [Edited 4/25/05 14:38pm] | |
