auvers-sur-oise , what an absolutely beautiful village !!! i was lucky enuf to visit the village last week stunning absolutely stunning !!! its about 30km from paris , took the train from gard du nord station following in vincent van goghs footsteps !!, a lot of artists have lived there, vincent, pissaro, daubigny, cezanne, you can clearly see why artists would want to settle there its a small very beautiful village near the river , lots of beautiful detached houses with stunning stunning gardens ! the weather was glorious too blistering sunshine , the tavern where vincent lived and died is still there, many of the houses and fields he painted are there too including the very famous ,... church at auvers !!! vincent and his brother theo are buried in the cemetery very close to the fields vincent loved to paint. even if u arent into art in any way auvers is definetely worth a visit. i also got to visit vincents room (bare) for effect, and dr gachets house where vincent painted the famous portraits of the dr, also took a stroll in gachets garden !!! boy i was a man on a mission ! |
