I Screwed Up My Back!!! It's all my damn fault. I discovered a new machine at the gym that works out the lower back muscles, and it felt sooo heavenly to use it that I went nuts today and completely went wacko overusing it, and now my back's all messed up and sore and stiff.
Anyone have any 'be kind to your back' tips?

Yeah if you discover a new machine at the gym that works the lower back muscles, and you suspect it would feel sooo heavenly to use that you might go nuts and wacko overusing it and then your back would be all messed up and sore and stiff...don't use it.

a nice relaxing back rub afterwards ooh, i've heard about the epsom salt bath idea. maybe that will be in order tomorrow morning. i also discovered a place right across the street from me that gives one hour massage/acupuncture combo sessions for a measley thirty bucks. i might actually look into doing that, too.

That is a good suggestion and if you want the quick fix (to just get you around for a bit) Take a hot bath (hot as you can stand) soak for about 30 to 45 mins then have someone ice your back when you get out (10 mins or so) and that usually works for me..... clever clever quotation - attention getting quote - sad yet witty remark - look at me! Im deep quote- song lyric about my ex cause that bitch stole my mp3 player! - line from movie I liked - Prince lyric - not very clever sig mocking other sigs

OWCH!
I can say that Violett gives some good backrubs! maybe she can help you out! on the serious side, you got some good thoughts and suggestions on here, I'll just add to it that you do some slow stretches. If you see a massgae/accupuncture person, they should be able to instruct you on some safe and helpful stretches

Don't get me started on my back. To put it simply, Iam 19 and have a back of a 60 year old.
I fucked it up BADLY when moving house and whilst carrying a big ass old sofa, I turned the wrong way and fucked it up. Really badly. It fucked up any sporting career as I cannot work it too hard ever again. Every time it was getting better, I would get so impatient I'd overuse it and fuck it up again causing more damage. I heard that actually exercising it GENTLY makes it better. So confusing? Oh yeah, sit ups help make the back stronger. Plus u get abs to boot. I had to do situps to help my back. So yeah I got some abs now which is kinda cool.

I would do the salt bath thing and then have someone rub your back with some sort of Cool/Heat or Icey Hot gel or cream. That always works for me and my clients.
