What's your feeling on...

Beggars

Do you give generously or turn your nose up at the homeless asking for change?

I always give, even if it's just the change in my pocket...money is not so important to me, I guess.

I bought this guy dinner from a fast food place I was driving through once...lol...I told him to tell me what he wanted, and I ordered it for him and then handed it to him before I drove away.

Usually, it's not like it happens a lot where I live anyway. I just hate it when those with an obvious drug problem amke up stupid excuses. Liars don't get shit from me.

You should of told him what he's having before he had a chance to decide.

See if they just ask for money I'd give it to them, but when you're obviously in need of a fix and come ask me for money because you lost your wallet and can't get a train ticket...talk to the hand

I do it sometimez, but generally i watch them, and it IS sad dat they are experiencing such circumstancez...but at da sametimez, there are homes dat can take them in- so why then should they be begging. I also like 2 know they really ARE using da money for food- cause i ain't contributing 2 noone wasting their livez away hmph!

Sometimez i dont (give money 2 beggerz)- i do worry dat they see lil old me wif all my bagz, and all i need do is come across someone who seez my wallet and holdz me for ransom or sumfinz... eek -haven't experienced this but i do wonderz!

Most of da time my change is used on lunch anywayz lol but if da person really has a genuine vybe of desperation- if i have, i don't mind givingz.

Having said what i've mentioned though...if dat person is a 'crook' what makes him or her any different 2 da rat packz who are also crookz but just about managed to really make it in da world and make money out of it...having millionz bow down 2 them cause of da dollar signz they possess.

Give anyone a suit and a tie or a sophisticated dress and they can pull anything off. It'z da way da world can be. It'z a side of da story dat isn't pleasant. But it seemz so unfortunately true. It'z a dog eat dog place.

Now i'm gettin reminded of dat movie Trading Places lol

I'm just sayin... twocents

i gave a homelss young man 2$ last friday ... and as i was handing it to him i noticed his dyed hair ...i simply asked him to not spend my earned $ on drugs or hair dye

i give when i can ... thats what $ is for ... to give away to "buy" something ... not that you can buy kindness , its just kind to share

Sometimes I give sometimes not, mostly (and selfishly) it depends on my mood at the time. I used to have a rule that if they said anything EXCEPT "can you spare and change" I would give it.

i don't have a fixed strategy.

though i do remember being in church once and listening to a sermon in which the vicar said basically - who are we to judge if somebody uses the money we give them to buy alcohol or get a fix? these people are in a terrible situation and if that's how they find some respite, then that's how they find it; ideal though it obviously isn't.

anyway, that had some resonance for me.

though, having said that, this vicar then got himself into the national press because he ran off with another vicar's wife and left the church. lol so fuck knows what to think.

sad

In general I don't, as it happens quite frequently and I'm trying to be better with my money. Which sounds awful, I realize. But when I'm moved to, I do.

I give all the time. There was a time when I was working at a grocery store, and there were about six homeless guys who hung out there. I would talk to them all on my breaks every day, give 'em money, extra clothes and such. A few of them became pretty good friends of mine. So yes, I give because I believe in Karma.

I pretty much always give them money. Like GEMINI13 I believe in Karma. The thing is that I know if I go to my favorite burritto place. I have to give a tip and pay the homeless man that is always outside. Same with my grocery store.

The honesty in California is out of hand. A guy came up to me and said he needed money for gas. He proceeded to tell me that Yes, he smoked crack and his girlfriend did to. This time it was really for gas though. I gave him a dollar.

I always give..

What is a dollar, or food?

Have any of you ever sat down and ate with a homeless person? I have, they have some very interesting, and sometimes sad lives.
