DO NOT get me started on my ongoing hell I've been through, and am still going through. Only three orgers know about it, and it's a long story, but basically I've been unable to do anything for two months now, and it's getting worse. I can't type much about it because it's too painful (literally) but I've been to 7 different doctors/specialists, and the emergency room about a month ago, and they still don't know what it is. I've been on 6 different medications and painkillers in the meantime and I'm unable to move my arms some days. I don't know if I'll dance again.
I finally get an MRI on Monday to see for sure, (which should have been done a month and a half ago) but it's most likely a disc out in between my shoulder blades, also one in my neck, my collarbone is dislocated, and a rib in back is out of place. Not to jack this thread and make it about me, but I just wanted to post something and say BE CAREFUL with your back and take time to let it heal. And be WARY of chiropractors because this is what fucked it all up for me in the first place. btw: today is a good day because otherwise I obviously wouldn't even be able to type all this up Get better! I love to dance alot and I can to a certain extent. But I used to love doing 110m hurldes for the county and I just cannot do it anymore. I hate talking about my back. But it is cool now. Only problem at the mo' is a moderately shitty hamstring. Luckily I can still play football.

But I guess I can't dance forever though. "I saw a woman with major Hammer pants on the subway a few weeks ago and totally thought of you." - sextonseven

And the only pole I use when I dance is one that's horizontal (the barre) Maybe if I got a boob job I could be a pole dancer. U know, senik would love this comment but Iam growing towards ballet. I admire the art alot. I still cannot watch too much of it though, but an ex ballet dancer girlfriend of mine got me into it. I would prefer to do poppier dancing, but, in my a level class, I tend to mix styles of check this ballet modern hiphop paula abdul mix of pop and ballet nicholas bro tap gene kelly tap jacko agresso dancing and of course running man "hammer" dancing I watch all those on videos I got (and my dad got the old gene kelly movies etc....) So maybe a career in dancing wouldn't be too bad for me. I need proper training though. I'll keep u in check minni if I do deside on trying to take my dancing to theatre or whatever. Thanx

Anxiety said: It's all my damn fault. I discovered a new machine at the gym that works out the lower back muscles, and it felt sooo heavenly to use it that I went nuts today and completely went wacko overusing it, and now my back's all messed up and sore and stiff.
Anyone have any 'be kind to your back' tips? Not sure when you hurt yourself, but a sports/athletic injury should be iced for the following 72 hours (3 days). After that you can use heat (a soak in the tub or heating pad). Also, if your back bothers you after exercise, you should you ice then also. You can resume heat later in the day or evening. AND, ALWAYS keep you abs tight and contracted while exercising, especially when doing back exercises. It will support your back and help prevent injury. (Plus you have the added bonus of working them at the same time).
