automotive question

I know this isn't the best forum for this, but I am not getting a response at other forums (besides do a compression check stab)

anyways my car is missing on cylinder 2 it has new plugs, cap, rotor, wires.
The plugs are firing, but #2 show signs of running rich. I switched the injector and things stayed the same. Is there anything this could be besides a valve problem?

The car is a 1984 944 I have it above 100 mph daily, the engine pulls strong above three thousand. even talking about pulling the head will cost me $150. so I don't want to if I don't have to as I want to sell the car.

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks

All I got from this is crack head and dip stick. Which I have no clue what kind of insults they're supposed to be.

Rambling good or bad? A modern engine with a good computer calling the shots is where my heart is (not those little sport/compacts tho)

as for this car, the oil and coolant look good, so I don't suspect the head.

Wouldn't a bad oxygen sensor make the whole engine run crappy?

No, don't I'm desperate here. And I should mention if I don't pull the #2 plug every few days and clean it I start smelling gas

Ok so automatically is going to run a littel richer than normal...BUT if you are smelling gas when you change your plugs, that normally is NOT a great sign, I hate to have to tell you that

Just dont run it to hard..is the exhaust black?

No, exhaust looks fine, I don't smell gas when changing the plugs, it's if I don't clean #2 regularly I smell it while driving.

I probably don't want to know, but what is it a sign of

It's okay when they're different colours. I can say 'the red car' or 'the indigo car'. It's when they're the same colour I get confused. Like you were a wee bit when you wrote that. wink

ehehe I thought you smelled it on the plugs...so thats a way bit better

you are going to smell gas if its rich..BUT (still I would find someone in teh area to look at it PROFESSIONALLY, becuase I am not a mechanic just a maniac about cars)

I think im going to stick to the oxygen sensor, it starts out small problems and then can really start reeking havoc

Changing the oxygen sensor can't hurt and is a lot cheaper than pulling the head, but I bet its the valve. Either it's sticking open or just a bad valve . Usually when the oxygen sensor starts to go you start using more gas and running rough in general maybe not just one plug going bad.

Thats what I thought, but I so don't want it to be a valve. I want something easey and cheap, glug a quart of marvel mystery oil and be all better.
