I totally agree with this thread, and ponder this question constantly.
I think it partly comes down to $ - Money I see people wanting a $100 TV (for example) to perform and have the same features of a $3,000 model and then are baffeled when it doesn't reach their unrealistic expectations when it breaks after a month. You get what u pay for! On the flip side, someone wanting a $3,000 TV, but it's nowhere in their price range, so they request mad arse discounts, what's ur "Best Price", "any less 4 cash", so they strive 4 that quality, but don't have the money to pay for it, again, u want the quality, u have to pay for it. All goes back to $ Ever hear people say "Is this Made In Japan"? Nothing is made in Japan anymore moron, u have forced these companies to produced sub standard product from cheaper countries like China due to you being a tight arse in the past, is now come back to haunt you! I also look at how everyone embraces the MP3 based on how u don't have to carry around removable media. True, and yes it is an advantage, but the music isn't in CD quality, and this sends the message out that, yeah, Im willing to accept this now, so in the future, i will be willing to accept even poorer quality. Ever see those CEO's of companies out shopping? There the ones who always say: "Do you have _____" "no" "Why not? This is an outrage, I wanna speak with a manager" ["because it's people like you who run companies that are only concerned about bottom line that have closed the production of that item down for you guys to save money, thus, we don't have it"] We are the numbers people, so long as we buy crap, they will make crap.
